This is the ProTek R/C 160SS Low Profile Digital "Super Speed" Metal Gear High Voltage Servo. ProTek R/C Servos have been developed to provide enthusiasts with high quality servo's that will exceed expectations at every level. The ProTek R/C 160SS High Voltage Low Profile servo delivers an incredible 127 oz-in of torque and 0.05 transit speed at 6.0V, and when you bump the voltage to 7.4 the spec's increase to 152 oz-in and 0.04! Spec's like these make this servo an excellent choice for any 1/12 to 1/10 scale vehicle application. Other features include a full aluminum case that provides bomb proof durability and improved heat dissipation, a metal gear train that is supported by dual ball bearings, a 160mm long 22awg connector wire with gold plated connectors, and a coreless motor.
Plus, instead of a cheap plastic servo horn, ProTek R/C goes the extra mile with an included aluminum single arm servo horn that will stand up to a majority of the punishment you can throw at it. And for additional rigidity, four blue aluminum servo ear guides are included as alternatives to the rubber grommets. ProTek RC 160SS Low Profile Super Speed Metal Gear Servo High Voltage/Metal Case
Have 3, 2wd buggy, 4wd buggy, and 4x4 SCT. All 3 working great after months, fast and strong. For the 2wd buggy I used an aftermarket servo horn because the included servo horn was too long and would not clear the upper nose brace of the buggy. An option would be to cut/shave the included arm down.
I have a $190 similar spec'd titanium model of a different brand (23 splines, blue/red/black leads) and this is a better servo imo.
The aluminum servo arm is great and equivalent to a $10-15 standalone product.
Another review mentions the servo shaking. This could be due to wire routing and/or interference. I experienced this myself my short course routing wiring near the motor. Routing servo and other cables away from the motor resolved this issue.

This is such a responsive, accurate and smooth servo. I am a big fan of Reedy products and have had great success with them but I wanted to try something new and Protek was my first option. After using this servo for about a month now I don't think I will switch back to Reedy due to the fact that Protek feels so precise. Very happy with the purchase.

Very good servo. Fits perfectly in my X-ray T4 due to the low profile nature. The speed is perfect and no decline in function after 2 state races. Well worth the money.

ProTek RC 160SS Low Profile Super Speed Metal Gear Servo High Voltage/Metal Case
Grabbed one of these to try out in my new 22T 4.0, as all 6 of my other 1/10 rigs I've installed the 160T and 160TBL versions in, but my local hobby shop was out of those when I pucked up the new kit a couple weeks ago, but they had one of these left so I gave it a go. Obviously the speed is rediculously faster than I need, but I was concerened that I may have had to swap this 160ss into my TLR 22 5.0 Elite as it needs the least amount of tourque of all my rigs and I know the 160T in that car wpuld be plenty for the 22T. Before I even changed the bec voltage on the Hobbywing XR10 Pro G2 I put innthe 22T from 6v to 7.4v I did a little testing in the street and was happy to find that the torque available even at 6v was plenty strong enough to easily whip the steering back and forth at a stop with heavy Duratrax premount all terrain style wheels and tires, so no need to swap to the 160T. I think this will be my new go to 2wd servo for the future rigs, and ill keep going with the 160T and 160TBL for the 1/10 4wd rigs. I became sold on Protek servos last summer after I grabbed new rigs, a Tekno ET48.3, EB48.4, and an SCT410.3, plus a TRX-4 that weighs a ton with all the mods and brass stuff, using 2 170SBL's, a 170TBL in the truggy, and a 370TBL for the TRX4, plus I recently grabbed 2 more 170T's for my UDR and Tekno EB48 2.0 I picked up in May. In all over the last 20 months Ive purchased 15 Protek servos, every new kit I buy gets one because Ive been so impressed with them. Ive never had one issue or complaint with any of them, and they are all still working perfectly. I will continue to use them in every new rig I get... great stuff Amain!

Super speed is right! Great servo for a good price. Looking at the case this is basically a cousin to a certain "highly" rated brand that retails for a lot more.
Good profile, low without being ultra shallow. Fairly smooth action.
Seems strong as well- I had an unlucky crash that bent an aluminium servo horn yet seemingly no damage to the servo gears.

Im so dissapointed in this servo. For the price point of it, I really expected it to be a good servo. I received it in the mail, installed it, then went to set my sub-trims and EPA's, but noticed that first it wasn't centering properly at all, I would get it perfectly straight, then try to drive in a straight line down the hallway to check it but it would veer one way or the other, so I trimmed it perfectly again and it would make a few straight passes but then it would start veering off again!!!! next when I picked the truck up i noticed the servo would shake horribly, I even took a video of it and posted it on youtube, you can search "Protek 160ss servo , horrible " to see for yourself.

It’s ok. But servo arm cannot be centered with out using trim. When Servos are put together at the manufacturer they should take care to make sure that the servo arm will center when installing the spline. .
