Reviews for ProTek RC 100SS Standard Digital "Super Speed" Metal Gear Servo [PTK-100SS]

The folks who had issues with this servo must have been trying to use them in oversized vehicles or got duds. I have this servo in both of my dirt oval vehicles (Bandit and Slash) with a horn and aluminum rack (No servo saver) and they keep on truckin' week after week. I will be buying more

As good as products Protek makes, they should be ashamed of themself for this one. This servo is gosh awful. I don’t recommend.

Seems good, wiggles back and forth when I tell it to. Speed and resolution seem great.

Not Reliable. Bought 2. After 3 battery packs, 1 servo wouldnt turn left. Found it out at the end of the straight away. Should have spent the extra money on a better servo, now i need $50 in parts and a new servo. No longer going use the second one i bought, not worth the risk. Wont be giv8ng Pro-tek my money either. Its a $50 servo, reliability shouldnt be where they cut corners. Slower speed and less torque is understandable, but please, not reliability.

I have had the servo for a day and used it for not even 2 minutes and it stops. the steering is locked up and killed my receiver. I tried it with a Sanwa system and nothing I tried with a different servo the Futaba 23003 and worked fine. this has deterred me from buying any Protek product ever again and would suggest the Savox SC-1257TG or the SC-1257TG black edition for a little bit more if you want a stealth look or all black. I saw the price and thought I might get lucky but I didn't and waisted 2 weeks with this servo. so don't make the same mistake I did. but got it refunded and I didn't even have to send it back I received an email and followed the instructions.

Wow, what a discrepancy in reviews, people either love this servo or hate it!  However, I noticed that almost all bad reviews were over 5 years ago now and I thought that maybe Protek had worked out the kinks?  Well, after almost a year of use and numerous races, I am very happy with this servo.  No, it's not HV and the motor is cored but performance is excellent.  It is fast, .09 seconds, and it puts out an impressive 168 oz-in of torque.  The servo doesn't glitch and continues to center well and no annoying buzzing sound (like some other brands).  Just a great value and impressive performance!

My new go-to servo! This servo is fast, strong, well built, and as an added bonus... looks good. Backlash is very small - right there with servos of twice the price. Accurate position holding and no glitching. So far plenty durable to hold up to stadium truck use on carpet/turf where servos do take a beating. These are slowly making it into all my vehicles as my other servos need replacement due to wear/slop.

This is the second servo that i have had to buy/repair due to gear failure. Do not buy this just get the more expensive option

this servo was bought as a back up, once it got installed it ended up the permanent servo in my t6.1 .... i liked it so much i put them in my t5m, sc5m ..... they're a great servo for the money, the specs are good too .... it's a winner!

I purchased my first one in March of 2014 and it's still going strong so I just ordered another one! These servos dollar for dollar are the best performing servo available in my honest opinion! Comparing the specs, performance, and reliability are comparable if not better than anything else out there. Great torque AND speed specs! For $50 why not?

Best esc on the market to replace any rtr ones that are not as reliable. PROTEK servos are built to be bulletproof and I have never had one fail. I run recommend to use this in stock 2wd buggy, touring car or even as an 1/8 throttle servo.

Awesome servo for the money. Compared to my Savox servos, they are very comparable in speed. Been running for over a month, and haven't had a problem yet!

I just installed this servo in my t4 and this servo is very quick and quiet I am very impressed with what I got for $50 dollars!!!!

In addition to my 3 star review from a few days ago, I have now given these servos a 1 star. If I could they wouldn't even get a 1 star review. After receiving the new servo that was replaced by A Main, it was installed and ran up and down the street for a couple of tanks, no issues. I was doing some prechecks before heading out to the track and it started glitching again. No idea why. So I contacted A Main and the rep on the other end told me that a BEC would clear up the glitching. Not so fast, the BEC would stabilize the input voltage if I were running Lipos for the receiver, but I'm not. I'm running a 6.0V NiMH battery. Sure it gets a bit over 6V when fully charged, but what battery doesn't. The theory of the BEC doesn't pan out. Needless to say, 2 servos down and my buggy still sits on the bench. There goes another 10 days of A Main looking at a servo that they know is very substandard. I have a $20 Tactical metal gear servo that has lasted longer in my buggy than these 100SS servos have. For those of you wondering, NO, the servo hasn't even made it to the track yet. Just some running on the street to get a workable tune on the engine. First one burnt up, now this one won't stop glitching.

Very surprised by these servos. Bought one for my B4.2 at first to try them out and WOW! I have used other high end servos and I felt like I was getting all the same features as a $100-150 dollar servo. Great specs, great performance. I have bought two more since the initial one and all of them have been running great. Pretty quiet too which is more and more uncommon in digital servos. I am hoping they last because I love their performance now.

I have 1 of these in my b44.1 and a futaba bls451 in my b4.2, I notice a big difference in speed with the protek it is fast (although it is kinda loud, I can't hear it unless I'm in a quiet room)and the torque is just as advertised I was goin to use in my 2wd but now I will leave in my 4wd because I like its performance more than the futaba so far. GREAT PRICE FOR PERFORMANCE.

It is quieter then a Savox at idle but the spline shaft started to walk in the case only after an hour of using it .....

I would not recommend this servo ran in my RC8 and it burnt out Amain hobbies excelent customer service replaced it so I decided to run it in my hpi RS4 I figured less stress on the brand new replacement servo and the same result the servo burnt out. The steering will give out a little at a time or just turn in one direction and then burn out not worth it. I appreciate amain for there above excelent customer service but protek servos do not stand up trash I would never order another protek servo garbage
