The MST CFX-W Kit is a high performance scale truck designed to deliver incredible performance. With features that include heavy duty steel CVA front driveshafts and 40° of steering angle, combined with steel gear portal axles and 4 link suspension - the CFX-W is a scale rig that can go anywhere the other guys can - and surpass them. Read on to discover why the CFX-W is the ultimate kit for enthusiasts looking for their next project.

The CFX-W features a forward mounted motor, with a planetary gear transmission and transfer case system that creates a gear reduction ratio perfect for crawlers. With steel gears and bearings throughout the transmission the CFX-W will transfer power from the motor to the axles smoothly and efficiently. The portal axles provide 55mm of ground clearance at the pumpkin, helping to create the clearance you need to scale those tricky technical sections where you competition gets hung up. The portal gear boxes are steel geared as well for durability.

A rear mounted battery and electronics plate helps to balance out the weight bias of the forward mounted motor and transmission, and large 4.72 diameter scale pattern tires keep the truck planted. Combine this with an axle mounted steering servo and aluminum links and you have an incredibly capable platform available at an affordable price point. All these features combined make the CFX-W a great choice for both pure scale and high performance builds.

MST CFX-W High Performance Scale Rock Crawler Kit (No Body)
I have over a year of runtime on my CFX-W. I have driven it hard with a 35T 3S setup and the axles show no signs of giving up. In all the time I have owned it, the only part I have broken is the male center driveshaft in the rear. Axial parts can be used in a pinch, but I upgraded mine with the MST MXS-210535 steel shafts in the front and rear, and have had zero issues since. My only complaint is the stock shocks. They leak (just like 95% of crawler shocks), and they are sized in a way that makes it tough to find an exact replacement (70mm long/20mm stroke). Still, the CFX-W is a great option for someone who wants to build a rad scaler, but wants something a little different. Plus, now they come with the 313mm wheelbase options in the box (I had to get creative when I stretched mine), and companies like Samix are making some really nice upgrades for the truck. I give this truck a solid 4.5 stars for the durability and uniqueness, -.5 for the shocks...

MST CFX-W High Performance Scale Rock Crawler Kit (No Body)
Chassis pleases with its bundling, in the set there is not anything excess. But there is one very significant drawback - the axles break! This happens in the mud or with the maximum turning out of the wheels. You should wait, maybe the manufacturer will release reinforced axles?! This disadvantage is frustrating ...

MST CFX-W High Performance Scale Rock Crawler Kit (No Body)
A pretty nice kit overall, I mainly purchased it for the portal axles. I think MST could have used metal ball ends instead of plastic, considering the cost of the kit. They also put an incorrect gear in the kit which has stopped my build for now. Other than those 2 complaints, parts have fitted perfectly sofar and quality is very good. My rating might change once I get the correct gear to finish my build!
