The nitro-powered 1/8-scale LST XXL RTR Monster Truck proves that bigger is always better. The LST XXL features parts and design elements that make it more durable than you could possibly imagine. The LST XXL features an extended wheelbase and a longer chassis which provides improved handling and stability, making for a better ride and easier operation.

The installed Losi 454 Engine is designed to produce unbeatable low end torque as well as high-rev horsepower for insane top speeds. Dyno tuned and ported for the highest level of power from the first startup, the 454 big block engine can pull the LST XXL from a dead stop up to speeds approaching 50 mph without a hiccup. The 454 Engine also offers the convenience of a combo Pull Start/Spin-Start backplate, with a hand held, push-button Spin-Start unit included.

Spektrum’s DX3S 3-Channel sport radio system with 2.4GHz DSM technology lets LST XXL drivers and racers experience the next level in precise control, while offering the added benefit of integrated telemetry. The addition of integrated telemetry provides users with real-time information such as head temperature, speed, RPM and voltage information. The LST XXL includes a NiMH receiver battery, making it easy to fire up the engine and get started.

The 2-speed transmission in the LST XXL offers optimized gear ratios for the perfect combination of low-end, turf-shredding torque and high-rev, high-speed horsepower. Additionally, the transmission offers reverse, making maneuvering easier. The 3-shoe aluminum clutch design features high-strength steel clutch springs to ensure that when you grab the throttle, the clutch is there to get the LST XXL moving in a hurry.

Armed with high-torque motors and metal gears, the dual steering servos on the LST XXL can move the oversized Force wheels and tires with outstanding precision. Twin servos offer double the torque, so you can point the LST XXL wherever you want it to go and expect it to respond instantly.

The molded suspension components on the LST XXL are formed from the same high-impact polymers and compounds used on Losi’s 1/8-scale race platforms, offering unmatched durability and precision. The front, rear and center CV driveshafts provide efficient drivetrain power, and the differentials on the LST XXL are built with metal gears to handle serious off-road abuse.

Tackling any terrain requires some intense traction, and the LST XXL delivers with custom chrome Force wheels and purpose-designed ATX tires. The custom look of the chrome wheels stays uninterrupted thanks to removable chrome caps to cover the wheel nuts for added realism. Losi’s ATX tires let the LST XXL take on anything in its path without hesitation, rolling over obstacles that would stop other trucks in their tracks.

Losi LST XXL Monster Truck RTR w/Spektrum DX3S 3-Channel Radio
I would give this truck 4 1/2 stars but I can't give 5.

THE BAD:
The pull start is very weak. I made very sure not to pull it too far and still it only lasted a few days. Make sure you use the spin start as much as possible and save the pull start for when you really need it. 2nd problem is my spin start didn't want to work at first. I had to take it apart and turn the electric motor a little with a screw driver. Still it would hang occasionally. Now it seems to work fine. In cold weather it's a little hard to start. Also my package didn't include the charger for the receiver pack!! The sticker for the speed sensor is crap. I've lost two in the first week.

THE GOOD: This really is a great truck. It seems to run better with 25-30% fuel. Lots of power. Handles great once you stiffen up the shocks. The threaded adjustable shocks are great too! I cartwheeled it several times with no breakage at all. I've owned a Revo and I think the performance is just as good. Telemetry on the remote is really cool! Knowing the engine temperature is very handy. Being able to see all your battery voltages is really nice too. The Lexan body is nice and thick. So far, parts are pretty easy to find. Although not on this website. :( A D-cell glow driver was also included though this is not listed in the description. Gas tank is large which is really necessary with such a large engine and truck (it burns quite a bit of fuel).

OTHER:
I hit a tree at about 25mph and broke a few parts. I hoped it would be a little more durable but that's a pretty good impact. The range on the remote seems good. Telemetry range is only about 100 ft, but that's not really a problem. Steering is difficult under hard acceleration but I probably just need to change my differential grease. In any case, too much power isn't a bad thing! So far I've had it up to 44 mph on about 22% fuel (blended). I swear it's going faster than that though. It looks like 60-70. 30% fuel should easily hit 50 mph.

I would say a tank of fuel lasts 10-15 min. Receiver battery is good for about 6 tanks of fuel. I made an adapter so I can quick charge my receiver battery in a pinch. Spin start is good for 4-8 starts with a 3000 mah battery. AA batteries in the transmitter lasted me a whole gallon of fuel and still going.

GREAT TRUCK, LOVE THE SUSPENSION....THE ONLY THING IS LOSI HAS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE FUEL TANK....THE PRIMER SETUP ALWAYS SUCKS AIR CAUSING THE ENGINE TO RUN LEAN....QUICK FIX IS TO PULL OUT THE PRIMING SYSTEM WITH A PAIR OF NEEDLE NOSE PLIERS AND PUT A SET SCREW IN ITS PLACE WITH A LITTLE SILICONE...PROBLEM SOLVED....LOL LOSI SHOULD JUST DISCONTINUE THE PRIMER....OTHER THAN THAT AWSOME TRUCK GOBS OF POWER

Definetly the best of the 1/8th scale nitro MT's. Comes with a top notch Spektrum DX3S radio and an LRP .28 Spec3 engine. THe design is also by far the most durable, and the stability of the truck is excellent.

IMHO, the best monster truck on the market. Can do anything you want it to do. Bash? Race? whatever else you got in mind for it. I do recommend getting some backup clutch shoes because the engine shreds them and eventually the engine temps will skyrocket from the slipping. Other than that a perfect monster truck. Oh yea and lsts do win races over revos so don't think twice and get a real monster truck.

Losi LST XXL Monster Truck RTR w/Spektrum DX3S 3-Channel Radio
I've had it for 4 days now, and i have had a few problems. The needle setting in the book are way off. The throttle/brake servo broke the first day. The pull start broke the first day. It doesnt seem to be holding a good tune. And it runs hot. This is my 4th nitro engine ive owned and have not had a problem before. Once i get the thing up to temp it runs good mostly. I really like the truck and the radio system tho. Maybe i should just get a new engine.

The engine started easy but the plug was not good because each time i removed the igniter the engine stalled.
I put in an OS #8 plug and no problems after that. During the third or fourth tank of break in believe it or not, one of the aluminum clutch shoes snapped in two. Luckily i had a set of Nova Racing shoes in my tool box.
After that everything went well and the engine seems to have plenty of power and i love the spectrum radio system with the telemetry.
