CONS: Motor Mount is not sliding and has slots for certain pinion gears. The gear mesh was very tight out of the box. Adjusting the motor to the 14T position resolved this issue and the gear mesh is perfect now. Stock servo is not very good, it’s nice that it’s waterproof but I would replace it with something better ASAP. Servo saver system is also very loose which can make turning a pain at times. I bashed this thing very hard for three battery packs straight and at the end of the day, the lower right arm caught a rock going fast down a hill and broke at the end where it screws into the front steering block. Will replace with stock for now, but something to keep an eye on.
They are great. Besides the Baja Reys we have Slashes at home and a UDR.
The Reys have been super durable and fun. If you run it on 3S (I always do) and crash it or jump it at ridiculous speed...yes you can break it. My breakages have been extremely limited and generally my fault...like my son running into a baseball dugout full speed while we were racing...it happens!
But, for just ripping around and bashing within reason I haven't broken anything and they have been great.
If the front sits too low for what you want to do...adjust the shocks and raise it up... I did mainly to change how its stance looked.
I have the most fun on dirt with AVC off...but don't mind using the system too...it does work. I also adjusted the gearing to the 10T included. They say to do that for 3S running...though I never had problems with the other on 3S. With the 14T (or whatever stock is) 3S was a rip. It hauled @ss. The 10T really is much safer for longevity. My only complaint is ballooning tires, but the 10T really helps with that.
All in all...love these trucks.
I picked one of these up at my local hobby shop about a year ago and can say out of the 15 trucks I've ever owned, this one is by far the most fun and the strongest.
It only broke three things and they were all my fault:
First thing was the transmitter after I had left it out in on a winter night at a ski resort over the night it snowed a foot... understandable. The other thing I broke was the top link axle mount after I launched it over 15 feet into the air and it landed flat on asphalt. The part was only 10 bucks so I want mad at all as its not even meant to jump 10 feet. I also broke the plastic wingnut after I rolled it on a 10 degree Fahrenheit day (-12 C) going nearly top speed.
Why you should buy it:
It looks super cool and has super plush suspension that works like a real truck. It is super durable, as in crash into a wall on a below freezing day at top speed and be fine. It has a 130a esc that can do 4s if you switch to a <3000kv motor. It has twin aluminum chassis plates and wont bend.
If you are thinking of buying one consider the following:
You should buy an aluminum spare tire holder (they're like $14).
You NEED to tape the entire inside of the body otherwise it will crack and the paint in the fenders will get rubbed off.
The tires will ballon like crazy at high speed and will make it unstable.
The ESC fan is NOT waterproof and a little bit of snow will break it but its unnecessary.
It is a scale trophy truck and is not intended for extreme stunts.
Overall I DO RECOMMEND you buy one.
