Kyosho Sand Master ReadySet 1/10 2wd Buggy
We just got his kit yesterday for my 10 year old son and it is PERFECT. I was contemplating getting the Tamiya Grasshopper or hornet as that is what I grew up with, but everything about this kit seemed better and it is! the chassis on this car is super flexible so it should be able to hold up to plenty of impacts of a new driver. I was worried it might be too fast with the 540 motor since he is still learning but No problem, the awesome radio has throttle and steering end point adjustment!. Just turn the knob and you can suit the speed of the rig to his ability. the ESC is nimh or Lipo ready and can be switched with a simple shorting plug on the ESC INSTEAD of a series of beeps and button pushes, EASY!. you can switch to forward only and brake the same way: shorting plug, Easy! the whole car can be disassembled with a phillips screw driver. It is just perfect for a first time RCer/youngster learning to wrench. The best part of this kit is the radio. lightweight (4 AA batteries), EPA, trims, servo reversing, battery level warning, steering dual rate, firm feel at the wheel,.it is much nicer than my losi RTR radio and feels way better in the hand compared to my Flysky gt3b. beest part, it fits his hand just fine. receiver is a 4 channel receiver, wow! so you can have a spot to plug in a t-sponder if you want to race, or for other accessories, also has a built in fail safe, awesome! (not pre-set but a simple button push to activate). the radio makes this kit totally worth the price. Servo is slow (typical rtr but fine for new driver), shocks have NO DAMPING whatsoever. But I am glad they included the oil conversion, that will be a fun project to do with him. Only fly in the ointment is the battery. It has been on the wall charger for almost 24 hours now and not even reaching 6 volts. pretty sure It's dead. not a big deal for us as I have plenty of lipos laying around but it could be a major buzzkill if you don't have extra batteries. If you wanted to actually try and race this one day (which we will at our club track), it is actually do-able for not much money. Put the oil kit in the shocks, pop on some adjustable turnbuckles for toe and camber adjustments, get some real racing buggy wheels/tires, switch the esc to forward only and rally it. Just don't expect to be smoking dedicated race rigs. Love this car for him. glad we got it. 5 stars even with the crap battery only becuase of the great radio. there are probably better race platforms out there, but for a first time car to learn and grow with, it is a perfect first step into hobby-grade RC. Nice job Kyosho!

Kyosho Sand Master ReadySet 1/10 2wd Buggy
great first RC car for sure, you will have a good idea about RC car, basic set up, and importantly you will know even for this basic car, a RC car will cost a lot to keep it running, I think for newbie this is great. It's a car you can play anywhere to relax too. This is a bit different than the Sand Master back to 2012. I know the gear set cover is different design about the screw locations. So if you wanna buy parts be careful to read the instructor.
