Kyosho NEO 3.0 VE ReadySet 1/8 Off Road Buggy Type-1 (Green) w/Syncro KT-231P 2.4GHz Radio

This is a great rtr buggy awesome awesome (been month's now nothing has broken)
I have always built my own rc trucks and buggies even if they start out as rtr I will have to upgrade something right away. Servos esc motors extra. So far I haven’t had to do anything to this buggy. I have an old Kyosho truggy that I have turned from nitro to brushless castle creations Momba 10-15 years ago before the waterproof stuff was out and it was extremely tuff truck. When I purchased this buggy it was because it was waterproof and I was familiar with their product. I was not disappointed fast and well built rc buggy.
Now the bad
Well if u Have been in the RC game for a while you would know that Phillips head screws suck this particular buggy is 90% Phillips head screws.
So I have purchased ss screw kit for it.
I literally took it right out of the box slapped a huge battery in it and ran it outside before checking on any of the screws bad idea I should’ve taken all the screws down nothing came off but after 15 minutes when I was done getting ready to clean it I noticed there was a few loose screws it does say in the directions that you should tighten all the screws down I would recommend doing this.
I am running a zee 4s 7000 mhz which did not fit in the battery tray I had to cut a little corner off for it to fit.
No none of these things are bad the truck runs great I’ve only taken it out three times I can wash it off in the sink when I’m done because it’s not that big it’s a fun little car. I would recommend buying it again. But remember there’s not an abandon of parts out there especially hop up parts.
It comes with a 12 tooth pinion gear I’m gonna bump it up to 20 I do not have it yet with the 12 tooth it probably goes 35 -40 mph Which doesn’t sound like a lot but for a buggy the size it’s pretty good speed

Ok so after having it for a while long now I have to say it is awesome I put sway bars in and a cooling fan on motor because I installed a 20t pinion gear ?? if Absolutely flies with the 20t gear it must go 60-65 mph on 4s I can’t even imagine putting 6s in such a small buggy. I have to say if u want a straight up good time not gonna have to fix every time you go out like a Traxxas or HPI this is the RC car for you. I bought a Traxxas recently played with her for 10 minutes and of course I broke her swing arm I was like typical Traxxas every time I use it I break something with kyosho It seems like they really have their shit together the buggy runs fantastic it’s put together really well. I wish I could show you some videos of me plowing through some slushy snow in puddles of water doing donuts

Few months later
Ok so I bought a small latrax Teton and it was like flashbacks from when I ran any of my traxxes rc cars they ALWAYS BRAKE!!! Now it sweet rc hasn’t broken anything I have put a 20t pionion gear ?? in and she hammers. Plus because I know that it would heat motor with a large pin gear I got an awesome fan from amazon. I have jumped off a 15ft drops going 40mph and just lands like a dream. Recommend new tires the ones that come with look awesome and work ok but are very soft rubber. I recommend the duratrax lock -up pre-glued and mounted. I got the Chrome ones. I don’t know what to say if you want an RC car that you don’t have to fix and you just want to play and maybe some upgrades this is the one kyosho just knows how to build a well balanced great power RC vehicles hands down.

Not quite sure what it wants to be...is it a racing buggy (maybe a bit slow), a taste to get into kyoshos racing range (replacing plastic parts often might put you off), a bashing buggy (not durable enough)

I initially thought about buying the arrma typhon as wanted a buggy. Im from planes/helis/quads background and thought we would do some car work, put a laptimer in like on the quads and go around a track etc. Then a friend got the arrma so i thought get something different, treat myself and got the Kyosho as i saw utube vids praising its handling. I wanted a buggy with a green body and by the time i added up the price of the arrma and the spare body and with an amain coupon i was close to kyosho pricing so thought why not.

The acceleration on default settings is kind of anemic and dissapointing and guess there pinion mods and punch settings - however i kind of feel that design prob setup to provide a given level of durability on default setting so taking my own chances hotting it up..

Also in first outing i broke the rear suspension holder driving along a grassy field back to me and it did a flip. I noticed that the rear holder was plastic so guess its like a 'fuse' so it breaks instead of the swing arm, however the holder just forward was metal and that bent out of shape and left a gash in the battery tray?!? as a result so not really a 'fuse' if its gonna bend other stuff out of shape and damage other gear. Checked friends arrma and it has a thin metal doubler present in same area, great. On first outing on default setting on rough grass on one flip is dissapointing. So was waiting some days for parts. Also bought an SCT (short course truck) from another brand as started to get worried that the Kyosho was gonna end up being a 'hangar queen' and wanted something to run day in day out.

The frame allows a lot of customization for positions of different suspension components but thats if you really get into tweaking the performance but i think the car really has to help spur that...if its sluggish or has issues..changing a bolt hole on suspension isnt gonna solve it. I also got all into the rc car thing and bought an rcscrewz screw pack and this isnt part of the review of the buggy but the screw pack (i should have checked) has all fine thread machine screws compared to the Kyosho OEM screws that are coarse thread for holding onto the plastic housings in tension. So dont really want to use the rcscrewz and work the plastic thread in the housings especially those screws holding the diff housings to the main base plate in tension! Dont think the machine screws in tension will be as good as the coarse thread screws. So thats dissapointing but i should have checked the fine print...have a box of screws now.
