The Kyosho Monster Kruiser USA-1 VE 1/8 ReadySet Electric Monster Truck pays tribute to the most popular Monster Truck in Kyosho history. This completely updated version of the USA-1 comes 30 years later with more scale detail, more power, more durability, and more suspension!

Redesigned in 1/8 scale, the "USA-1" flies the American flag loud and proud. Kyosho’s classic design has been recreated with an ULTRA SCALE body, uniquely reinforced 5-link suspension and stronger solid axles originally used on the Mad Crusher and FO-XX 2.0. Equipped with a high-power brushless motor with a 4-pole rotor and 12-slot stator generating 2300KV, the electric powered VE delivers outrageous speed and power characteristics that would rival that of the real USA-1. This high powered system makes the large truck feel small, with acceleration that dramatically exceeds the nitro powered version. As a pre-assembled Readyset, the body is immaculately finished with paint and livery to capture the history of this iconic 1990's machine. Your batteries are all that is required to start the action. With spare parts and a wide range of optional parts available to continually maintain and enhance performance, the USA-1 is guaranteed to provide thrills for a long time.

Features:
  • Pre-assembled chassis with R/C system installed and finished body. Includes pistol-grip Synchro KT-231P+ transmitter
  • Five-link suspension in combination with shaft-type 4WD delivers exceptional stability over rough surfaces
  • Equipped with waterproof KS5031-09MW servo, incorporating high durability metal gears
  • Ultra-realistic scale body has been recreated under license of USA-1, including the signature color scheme
  • Optional LED light set shines bright with LED head & tail lamps and rooftop fog lamps (not included)
  • Brushless motor unit is designed to handle a massive 14.8V
  • Front center drive features a telescopic universal shaft to ensure high drive efficiency and prevent shaft dropout issues
  • Optional 4WS (four wheel steering) increases turning power (not included)

Hands down the best basher ever!. out the box on 4s its a beast. Backflips non stop, wheelies, 35mph 1/8 scale monster. Lmt has some competition! I've bash this beast few runs now and it took the beating. My first kyosho and I'm very very happy with it. Even when it sits on shelf waiting for the next day for a bash. Its a beautiful truck. Can't beat the price and if you see this available buy it asap, you will not be disappointed. I already bought more kyosho products! and mad van ve on the way. Kyosho Monster Kruiser USA-1 VE 1/8 ReadySet Electric Monster Truck
I pretty much exclusively run solid axle trucks, and I’ve had my eye on this platform for a while. It is a bit different with the 5 link, shock placement and funky steering system, but it is incredibly fun, durable and stable. I’ve been running with 2s, 3s and 4s, and all have their place, but I honestly prefer 2s right now. Just enough to make me smile. Hopefully aftermarket parts support will happen, but for now I’m very happy with my purchase.

Fast and durable. The electronics are solid. Original replacement body is expensive so don't break it. With 4S lipo it flies.

Kyosho Monster Kruiser USA-1 VE 1/8 ReadySet Electric Monster Truck
This truck is hilarious fun. I bought it to run with my son and his SMT10 Grave Digger. So far, it's taken some pretty hard hits and keeps rolling. I hate that I'll be trashing this absolutely beautiful body at the skate park, but the truck is just way too fun for eating up big air. Does it handle as well as my X Maxx? Absolutely not. Is it as fast? No. Is it more durable? I have yet to break anything but I can only assume no. It's a different kind of fun, kind of like a Lunchbox that spent too much money on a home gym and protein shakes after a bad breakup. I let my son drive it on 2s, despite him being a far more responsible driver than I am, and the truck is still pretty quick and is much easier to control during wheelies.
I absolutely love this truck.

Kyosho Monster Kruiser USA-1 VE 1/8 ReadySet Electric Monster Truck
I have had mine for a few days now and run a bunch of packs through it....This Truck is really great on 3s but on 4s the Beast comes to life. Non stop wheelies and just pure fun. I am a solid axle Monster Truck fan that owns 3 other Trucks and am having a BLAST with this one. I have a couple of gripes that are not a big deal...#1 I thought that being a Japanese company that the Truck would be Made in Japan....well much to my surprise it is made in China (like everything else)..the steering is a bit of a disappointment but that can be fixed with an on axle servo mount. I have been hammering on mine and have not broken anything yet....I broke my LMT axle the first run. Thanks A-MAIN for such fast service and delivery..THE BEST HOBBY STORE EVER. Great products fantastic service and the Best Customer Service you will ever get anywhere......UPDATE having fan quite a few packs in my USA 1 I am DEEPLY SATISFIED...I wish I would have gotten this one before I got my LMT....I have been driving it just as hard and harder than I ever did my LMT and I have not broken anything yet..(cracked the rear of the body from too many wheelies).if you make one little mistake while driving the LMT something breaks....axles, link mounts, servo mount, and it eats servos for lunch.....I am sooo glad I purchased the Kyosho USA 1 VE.....Thanks Again A-MAIN for such a great store and staff..

Kyosho Monster Kruiser USA-1 VE 1/8 ReadySet Electric Monster Truck
This truck is really fun and drives like it looks! I use 3s battery and its perfect for the on the trail rock jumps and wheelies. However I had too much trouble with the 4wheel steering kit; it looks like it could work if i add better hardware. the screws Kyosho supplies are short and really need something long enough to put a nut on. Ans overall the single-sheer steering design isnt the greatest. Also most online reviews say the Kyosho Brains 8 esc it comes with is really a rebranded Hobbywing Max8 esc, but it actually has has lower specs than the G2 Max10(140A) and no dragbrake function and only sensorless motors! Plus it wont communicate with hobbywing programmers so you have to use beeps and flashes. Still i think with some easy mods like those this sweet scale looking monster truck earns a place on the shelf.

Kyosho Monster Kruiser USA-1 VE 1/8 ReadySet Electric Monster Truck
This truck is really cool! It looks and handles like you’d imagine a real one to be. This thing looks beautiful on the shelf when you’re not out playing with it too. I’d recommend getting a generic body for it to run, so you don’t scratch up that beautiful classic body. Save that one for the shelf.

If you’re looking for a hardcore Basher, get an Xmaxx or maybe a 6s Kraton. This truck isn’t for that. It’s designed for smaller jumps and stunts. Buy it! You’ll thank me later!

Kyosho Monster Kruiser USA-1 VE 1/8 ReadySet Electric Monster Truck
Overall, this is a very fun vehicle to drive, it just doesn't seem very well assembled or designed. For the price, there should be some build and design improvements. Specifically:

1. The front right steering ball link was shipped disconnected. There is almost zero chance it popped off in shipping, since there was no damage to the box and it hasn't popped off while running since. It was easy enough to fix, but gave me some concerns about the overall build quality.

2. The steering mechanism mounts to the front axle via a clamping collar. It was not properly tightened. It wasn't obvious initially, but after a few minutes of running, the wheels were pointed to one side. I had to slide the axle collar back to the right position on the axle and re-tighten it, which worked, but was made harder than it should be by the use of phillips head screws rather than hex head screws. The whole steering linkage could probably use a re-design, to at least add a locating detent/ridge on the axle for the collar to fit into/onto rather than relying purely on clamping force.

3. One cartwheel (not from jumping, just speed + turning + uneven surface) resulted in a rear lower shock mount breaking off. Fortunately there are multiple mount positions, so I was able to use the next lower one (it came mounted in the top hole). It feels like for the price, this plastic piece (which is part of the axle assembly) should be aluminum. Shock mounting points are a predictable place for things to break. Hot Racing does make a quite expensive ($160 as of today's date) aluminum axle housing that would fix this issue, but it is out of stock everywhere I've looked. To replace both axles with aluminum housings, it would set you back $320!

All of the above being said, it is still a fun, and on 4s very fast, truck. You'll probably enjoy it more on 2s, as 4s is almost too fast to use. You have to be VERY slow to increase your throttle position to get to full throttle on 4s without a backflip. The issue still exists on 2s, though less so. You'll also probably break fewer things on 2s, as your crashes will be at lower speeds.

Would I buy it again? Honestly, I'm not sure. When it works it is fun, but I do have serious concerns around the obvious design flaws and durability going forward. This feels like it might turn into one of those vehicles that will be tough to get through more than a full battery or two without something breaking.
