Kyosho Lazer ZX-6 1/10 4WD Racing Buggy Kit
The Lazer ZX6 is an absolutely amazing machine. Perfect fit and finish of all the ZX6's parts as well as the buttery smooth shocks and ball diffs are complimented by it's motor and battery placement options. This buggy is very aggressive right out of the box and after a practice day and some tuning at my club track, this thing is on rails. The only option that is not included in the Kit are the Kyosho V2 Aluminum rear hubs KYOUMW704-0, I installed these only for the additional rear camber link positions. That being said every other aluminum upgrade and tuning option is included with the kit. On the track it has gobs of steering and carries amazing corner speed. I am still new to racing 4WD Mod Buggy but the ZX6 has given me the confidence I needed to drive harder. All the Kyosho cars I own and race have been money well spent, the Lazer ZX6 is no exception.

Kyosho Lazer ZX-6 1/10 4WD Racing Buggy Kit
Bullet proof. When putting this together, make sure to read ahead in the instructions. You need to know the layout you plan to use before assembly. I wish Kyosho would drop a center gear diff in this car..

Kyosho Lazer ZX-6 1/10 4WD Racing Buggy Kit
I have a ZX-6. 1) I find that the A-arms (Carbon composite) are a bit too brittle and fail. They either crack and break at the inner hinge pin or splinter along the outer front edge. Both result in a a race ending failure. 2) I also recommend replacing the kit supplied ball studs with after market ball studs. The stock ball studs seem to be of poor quality metal and sheer. Often it is the case that there is an issue with the quality of the metal when balls ends do not let go but the ball studs sheer. This also damages the front upper bulkhead. 3) Another issue is the plastic incorporated ball studs used for the anti-sway bar mounts. These are difficult to change quickly if there is a need to replace an A-arm. Often they break leaving the ball stud stuck in the ball ends when trying to remove them. A separate screw in ball stud would be an improvement. 4) Finally there needs to be an optional alloy replacement for the steering parts. During the in-door carpet season many of the new tracks are very technical in layout employing rather high traction carpet. This combination is very hard on the composite steering parts.

In general the car is a pleasure to drive and race but I have found it challenging to survive an entire day of racing without one of the failures I describe above. As a result, now that X Ray has recognized the uneven toe problem and is addressing it, I am considering replacing the ZX 6 with an X Ray. Other than the manufacturing issue, over-all the X-Ray XB4 15 appears to be more durable than the ZX 6.

Let's face it crashes happen. There are several cars on the track traveling quickly and driving aggressively. Durability is as important as the refinement of a design. One can't win a race if they can't finish. Kyoshos cost more than most cars and therefore expectations are higher. They need to live up to those expectations and make the ZX 6 both refined and also very durable.
