I wish there was an alternative for these nuts, they keep stripping out and till now I've bought three packs of these. if you need to change your wheels and tires often then just install some 17mm adapters which is what I ended up doing.

These have changed over the years. The dome part used to be thicker and made the nut more robust. The past few years (if you can find them), the dome is very thin and has a tendency to tear away from the nut on hard landings.

I'm not sure if this will let me post a link to a photo I have:
http://gmarquee98.x10host.com/myPics/98gmarquee/misc/2017-0821-HPI_Z680-old-new-axial31087-side.jpg

The photo shows the old hpi/new hpi/axial brand side by side so you can see how they compare. The new hpi once also have a thicker shoulder, so if you have thinner rims, they won't tighten down well.

I used to use these on my traxxas vehicles as well after cutting off the threaded part of the traxxas 17mm hubs. On traxxas 17mm hubs, the inside of the hub gets chewed up and wore down by the threads on the shaft. If you cut the hex off flush, then use this kind of nut instead, it removes all wobble from the traxxas hub.

While trying to find a better replacement, I found the axial 31087 flange nut that is similar. The only issue I have is that the threads don't start until about 1/4 the way up in the nut, so on my savage with pro-line trenchers, it's only grabbing by 3-4 threads. That said, they have been working great and I haven't broke one yet like I did many of the newer/thinner hpi nuts. I believe the revo axles have a longer threaded portion, so the axial nut may work even better on those.
