This is a pack of two optional Hot Racing X-Maxx Aluminum Reservoirs in Black anodize. These Hot Racing adjustable piggyback (aka piggy-back, reservoir) shock caps for the stock shocks on the Traxxas X-Maxx 6S and 8S. This kit complements factory shock components to create the ultimate shock system. The adjustable reservoir allows shock pressure to be tuned for performance.

Features:

  • CNC machined billet aluminum construction
  • Adjustable shock reservoir
  • Double-sealed reservoir piston to eliminate piston blow-by
  • Built in bleeder allows for the reduction of entrapped air to provide additional shock oil volume
  • Anodized black for durability, corrosion resistance, and aesthetics
  • Hot Racing logo is laser etched on piggyback (reservoir) body

Requires:

  • Silicone shock oil of modelers choice
  • Recommended to use HRASPL10G08 for the shock o-rings
  • Reuses stock Traxxas shock cap pivot bushings, TRA7764

Hot Racing Traxxas X-Maxx Aluminum Piggyback Reservoir Shock Upgrade Kit (2)
Look cool but are just useless. Rebuilt after the first install had leakage on all four corners. Rebuilding though didn't make any difference, they are essentially overpriced silicone oil dispensers. Which if you are into that kinda thing (no judgements), then these would be great for you. Otherwise, zero benefit.

Oh and one other issue, these "reservoirs" (silicone oil dispensers) create nice holes in otherwise healthy lexan if you get it wrong. A couple good crashes and there's cut holes from these in your lexan.

UPDATE: 3 More outings with the XMaxx and the reservoirs (silicone oil dispensers) have given it up completely. All four leak bad enough that I placed a towel under the XMaxx while transporting and it’s been relegated to garage parking only, on a towel. So, parking the XMaxx for now, will be rebuilding soon with OEM shock caps.

Final verdict, these are a lamentable purchase. One of those things where you’re angry at the company for releasing them at all, pure chinesium rubbish at its worst. Skip altogether.

Amain reached out to see if they could help after the initial review, and that’s a very customer centric move. Cheers.
