These work great. I read wa1210ck review and I think I know what his problem is. If you look at the manuals exploded view for the front axle you will see a tiny "o" ring in the diagram that is not listed as a part. You need to remove this o ring from the stock axle and place it in the HR extended front axle. This will take up any slop in the axle play and works just like stock. Also none of the included shims are needed unless you are using the axle weights. In that case you just need the shims for the rear axles to take up the slop.

These work great once you troubleshoot them and fix the issues. The slots in the front axle drive cups are not cut as deep as the OEM ones and cause excessive binding and bucking when turning. You must cut these deeper with a dremel cutoff wheel or similar. The small flat top screws are used as bearing retainers on the rear if running the axle weights & brass hexes. Otherwise I had binding on one side so tight when I installed the wheel. Also, the front OEM axles have a small o-ring in the drive cups you can transfer over to the HR front axles.

Other than that, they work fine.

It’s hard to put in to words what’s going on...

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1d6D-fyEtjD9iTLWJNd3jurVmZ1H3Bglu/view?usp=drivesdk

And for reference, this is for my Axial SCX24 JLU.

With the stock drive stub, it spins straight but with the HR +4mm stub, it wobbles as if doesn’t seat well onto the dogbone like the ball cup isn’t radiused properly. When I turn all the way to one direction and give it some throttle, it would constantly wobble back and forth as evidenced in the video but would drive a lot smoother if I were to go relatively straight. Now, it MAY require some shins but The only place I can out any shins are on the opposite side of the stub where I would out the brass spacers. I did try that but that had no effect.

So as of now, until I can figure this out, I'm not sure how to resolve this issue. And yes, AMain CS has already sent me a replacement and the replacement is doing the exact same thing. Maybe my stock steel hubs are machined incorrectly and only matches with the stock hubs? I tested that out and swapped the left with the right and they both fit without issues on either side but when I tried to put the HR stubs, they wobble once again.

The rear, however, hasn't given me any issues...

As of now, I'm not entirely sure what the issue is. I tried contacting HR directly but haven't heard from them yet.

Purchase this at your own risk.

I want to give these more stars because they look good and the idea is great, but I have the same problem as everyone else. These are flawed by design, the drive pins in the end of the inner axle shaft bottom out on the slots in the stub axles when fully turned, causing binding. It's similar to having a proper 4WD vehicle (without a center diff) in 4WD on pavement and trying to turn. The steering bucks when turned fully and you have to dial out steering to correct it, what's the point of that? This is a poor design and should not have made it into production. I'm going to try to lengthen the slots in the stub shafts to resolve it. I've been very happy with the other Hot Racing products I purchased here, just not these.

No slop in the steering. This was an easy upgrade and very necessary to both add weight and decrease flipping over. Use plenty of bearing oil and USE YOUR O-RINGS for no slop in steering. I did on my first installation and it steers just as new, maybe even better!

These axles are a waste of time. Installed them and had horrible binding issues when turning left or right. I had to turn the steering all the way down to almost nothing to not hear metal clicking inside the axle. The problem is with the cup and the t spline where they meet. For me they kept grinding. I tried grinding the cup down and the ball on the T. Nothing worked. Soon as I put my stock axles back in, problem was fixed. Do not buy these unless you want a headache. And it’s really a bummer, because I wanted to use the weights associated with these axles. Now they are collecting dust.

Does not work very well. The spacers get stuck on the bearings somehow, causing them to take a lot of force to spin. Motor heats up quickly and it loses all of its torque.
