Awesome little ESC that packs a punch. I use it in an Xray XB8 2017 with the G2 4268 1900kv and 16T pinion. It's a rocket, especially with the turbo timing. Heat is no problem at all
Excellent speed control! Easy to program, especially with the Wi-Fi Express module. Smooth, reliable and very powerful. It is a robust design that looks like it can take some real abuse. I wanted to wait a little while before posting a review to see how it handled a few races, and it has performed flawlessly. Admittedly, I am using not uing this for it's intended primary application/class. Despite that it is working really well, and I have no want or desire for anything more. Purchase with confidence!
As a side note the aforementioned Wi-Fi Express is a gem! It connects easily, and the Hobbywing iPhone application works very well. If you have the money, then it's a must have.
My set up:
Team Associated T5M
Spektrum DX4C
Savox 1257TG
Reedy 7.5
Hobbywing Xerun XR8
SMC Racing 4000mAh 150C 2S lipo
Proline Electrons and Enforcer body
Esc works great running in a tekno 410.3 on 2s with a 4 pole 4300kv hobby star pro4 motor, ran for the first time at a club race plenty of power and smooth control in all 3 qualifiers however in the 8 minute main the esc went into thermal protect and i noticed the fan was not working, upon further inspection found not only had one of the blades broken off but the fan itself had also stopped working completely.I tested the fan to make sure it was the fan and not the esc causing it not to spin so i plugged the backup fan in and it works fine. Spare fan included in my esc package was wondering if this is a common problem .
Awesome ESC! Nicely built, easy to program, very smooth. I paired it with the 1900 Hobbywing G2 motor in my Tekno EB48.4, and it's easily the fastest and smoothest combo I've run. Great value for the $$$$$.
I have compared this esc to my tekin gx2 esc and I notice this hobbywing is more smoother, powerful over tekin. I ran it with two identical cars with the same batteries and hobbywing performs a lot better and the power switch is great, compared to tekin. That switch is like a 99cent switch that keeps failing all the time when I had it. Plus a huge price difference. Almost 100 dollar saving.
Bang for buck best esc you can buy. Run one in my 22sct and eb48.2. Not a hiccup with either. Didn't buy from amain but from my lhs but still have to tell people buy this esc you will not be disappointed.
Extremely happy with this ESC. Using it with a Tekin 1900kv in my Mugen and it's the smoothest electric combo I've had in 1/8 bar none. No brown out issues some complain about using savox high torque steering servo so the BEC is strong enough as well. No heat issues at all, no cogging, and the LCD box makes it ridiculously easy to program for your track. Would recommend to anyone.
Bought this from my local HobbyTown USA in Gladstone, MO and i have to say this is a great esc. I have used a couple Hobbywing esc's and i have a pretty good idea on what i look for in one. This thing is first off great looking and programs easy with the WIFI module. The ESC is definetly 8th scale size so if your using it in a smaller area you might want to make sure you can use it. The push button is great quality and lights up so you know its on. ESC programmed out of the box is a little light on the punch so you might have to turn it up. I am using it in a SC5M With Reedy M3 7.5 with 10 gauge wire and this thing runs really cool, and my motor doesn't even break a sweat with it. Only thing i am having a small issue with is trying to check my slipper setting the motor stutters. I have had Hobbywing Techs look into it but nothing really came up. Other then that performs like a champ!
I have this in my MBX7 Eco with a Surpass Taurus 1950kV 4274 motor and it's fantastic. The ESC barely gets warm during use and if anything there is too much power. I've had to turn down the punch to make it a bit more manageable.
The build quality is great and I like the accessories it comes with. All the wires you'll need with some heatshrink for the battery connection. It also comes with a bunch of stickers and a spare fan which is a great touch. The terminals are easy to solder to and so far I'm very impressed with this ESC. I have the BEC set to 7.2V and it never says under load from the steering servo.
I raced with it for the first time yesterday and it performed great. I had some tires come unglued but that's not the ESCs fault. :)
I rate this 10 stars! This is the best esc for 4WD sct!!! (IMO) Also great for 1/8 ebuggy. Pair it up with the WiFi express module for the easiest programming ever.
Got this and the Wifi adapter for tuning with my iphone. This speedo is butter smooth in my RC8B3.1e. I have it paired with a Motiv MC8 1950kv, 15-46 gearing 10 timing. I run punch mode 3 and 50% brake strength and the thing RIPS! Never worried about over-heating and throttle is awesome for the jumps. Very pleased and for the price I am very pleased. This is the speedo several of the pros use for ebuggy due to its 1 oz lighter than the XR8 Pro.
Very versatile, smooth, reliable power. I’ve used this esc in my t-4.3, my prosc10 and my axial wraith. Made my 10th scale stuff so fast I could barely run them on 3s. But I will say that for crawling this thing is a beast. The bec runs the savox 1210sg with ease and paired with the hobbywing 3800kv motor my little crawler scoots along pretty quickly. Programming is a breeze, and the programmable items available are all very functional and useful. I’ve been running this over a year now and have had no issues to speak of. Buy with confidence, this is a good product.
Installed in my 1/8 eb48.4 on 4s works awesome! Very smooth runs good fit good overall very happy at this price point you can by 2 use one and have one as a spare vs the tekin rx8gen 3 I have Both the rx8 is smoother but makes the same power but dubbing the Cost awesome price point quality product!
Great working ESC. The programing is simple. I like it.
i have this esc for some time now and it is perfect.Run it over the limit with a 2400kv Motor on a heavy 1/8 buggy
and it Works perfect without any issues.Easy programming, super bec and buletproof .highly recomended.
Fantastic ESC. I pair mine with the Tekin G2 motors. As the Viper VTX's get harder and harder to find, this has become my go-to. I like the small footprint, strong BEC, and find it to be smooth as silk. I now own 2 of them and don't see me trying another brand anytime soon. Hobbywing has created a really great lineup.
Running this in my MBX7R ECO with a hacker 2100kV on 4s. Beautifully smooth, runs cool, worth the upgrade if you are running the previous SCT PRO ESC.
Works excellent, only reason I’m giving it 4 stars is because of the switch. It will eventually fail, easy fix, but I will hobbywing would go to plug in switches, makes them easy to replace
Not the best..................................................................................
Excellent ESC! I removed a perfectly good working Castle Mamba X for one of these esc. I am much happier with the Hobbywing XR8 SCT than the Castle system. It hits harder if you want it to. Have NO heat problems in my touring chassis basher Traxxas 4tec 2.0. I am even happier with this system in my Losi 10 SCT 3.0 paired with the 3660 3600kv Hobbywing motor. Excellent choice for beginners and with the WI-FI programming very simple to use.
