- The sensor harness, which features the plug-and-screw design, has a silicone O ring inside. The design & O ring not only provide a firm connection between motor and ESC but solve the “waterproof” challenge for sensor ports.

Hobbywing AXE 550 R2-FOC Waterproof Sensored Brushless Combo w/3300Kv Motor
By far my favorite crawler combo. Since I bought two, I decided to put one to the test. I had this completely submerged for right around 100yds going against the current up a stream, took a couple minutes to get to the end point at full throttle. Never lost signal, never shut off, still works a week later just as it should and has been tortured with hours of abuse since. Do not try this unless you know for a fact your other electronics are properly waterproofed as well. My only dislike is the length of the 3300kv motor and for some vehicles having to fab/trim things for it to fit.

Haven't used this yet. Jumping on here to mention that this comes with a PINION GEAR. It's a 12t 32p. I was hunting for an answer to this, to no avail. So here ya go. =Þ

Installed on a trx4 Bronco. Everything came with to install. If you are using Traxxas batteries you will need to change the plug. The truck is very fast. The low gear is like the high gear with the brushed motor. High gear is very fast for a crawler. It is great for crawling and trail driving. If you are looking for more speed and more low end torque buy this. The app is very easy to use.

I installed in my TRX4 Mercedes. Note that this setup is only 50 grams more than a traxxas/Holmes Crawlermaster Sport combo.
One advantage hiking with the truck is that the cruise control speed is exactly constant. Not like stock which is just a throttle position hold. Lots of hills in New England so it's cool. Everything else said about this setup is true. Not inexpensive but really awesome.

I haven't installed this hobbywing yet but it is the second one I buy and the previous one worked very well for me on a trx6, I like the very smooth operation (better than Castle), the program by app.
Cons, the cables should come soldered or with connectors, if you don't know how to solder it's hard to do it, apart from that it's a very good piece of equipment. I hope this one turns out as good as the previous one.

The best brushless system for the TRX-4! The R2 system is just awesome for the perfect balance between speed and crawling and let’s you make the most of the 2-speed transmission on the TRX-4.
Everything from the ease of programmability via Bluetooth to live data monitoring is brilliant.
I’m running it with an Axial 11T Pinion (32P) and I would advise getting machined aluminium beadlock wheels to improve overall stability with the increased speed.
Great fun on the trails in high gear and crawls equally well in low gear.

Best crawler motor/ESC combo I have ever used, super slow crawling with no jitters at all and tons of torch, at the same time this thing has high end speed too. My TRX-4 in high gear does 35mph. This motor/ESC combo is going in all my crawlers.

As always hobbywing hits a home run! I use hobbywing in all my of RCs and this is my first AXE system. I’m very impressed with it, not only is it the first one with built in Bluetooth programming. It’s also the smoothest. There is absolutely no cogging on this motor. With the stock TRX4 gearing it gives it about the same speed in first gear, as stock would in second. Second gear with this beast is a lot of fun and absolutely shreds. Then you can crawl insanely slow and controlled. Love this setup.

If you're debating on this over a fusion or a castle system I would highly recommend this system! I have several fusions and love them but this system is much better! I just wish they would add another 540 sized for the capra!

TRX4 2021 bronco is almost too fast with this but the low speed control is incredible with FOC. Bluetooth built in is a huge plus as you can adjust the parameters anywhere you are (with your smartphone).
