Just what I was looking for to replace my RTR radio.
Had issues with the stock transmitter and receiver of my Losi RTR. Went through two replacements and an upgrade of the same brand. Both replacements and the upgrade were plagued with issues. This Futaba stopped all that nonsense. Plop batteries in it, plug in your ESC, select S-FHSS or FHSS mode, hit the bind button on the receiver and you're in business. Say goodbye to bind plugs, complicated binding procedures or sacrificial offerings to the RC gods in the hope you got the correct sequence of trigger pulls, dial twidling, distance from the receiver or just plain waiting long enough for it to magically work.
Steering input reacts much quicker and handles high voltage servos with ease. A little adjustment of the sub trim and the throttle expo in my case, and it's a much more "connected" feeling to the car. Super easy to adjust on the fly despite the rather archaic menu and display. Whatever. It works perfectly and is more than adequate for the task.
Feel is a little cheap. This is true. Fit is perfect my hands, but this is a personal thing. You may not feel the same. For the price, I don't think you'll find better. Highly recommended!
love the new radio, very light and fast. mine came with the steering wheel foam that seems to be too small for the wheel, all the picture I can find show it filling the wheel from edge to edge but mine doesn't, affects the feel and hand eye a little, not enough to complain. I will try to contact futaba to see if this is planned or I got a defect.
For the price you pay for this radio, the performance is great. Very responsive and functionality is pretty good. Only let down the cheap feel compared to a more expensive Futaba or Airtronics. However, great value and functionality for price. Cheers
Seriously, what a great radio! Everything you need to tweak and for such an insane price.
The trigger on this is HUGE! Great for people with fat sausage fingers - much bigger than the 4PV trigger.
Wheel foam is fine on mine, but plastic case/frame a weird finish spot under the buttons. NO biggie.
This transmitter/receiver combination is a huge improvement over RTR units. Very adjustable and feels good in various sizes of hands. Did find that wrapping the somewhat smooth handle with tennis grip tape made the feel great for both my wife and myself. This system is seemingly excellent in its price range.
8/13/20 Update: This transmitter suffered a "RF module" failure after about 7 months of very light use (wife's radio). Calling Futaba and leaving messages was absolutely fruitless (during the pandemic)...Never received a return call. Resorted to sending in an on-line Service Request which was responded to after 3-4 business days (wish Futaba had advised that this was the only potential way to communicate). Sending the unit in to Huntsville (still under warranty); but, have been advised that their current turnaround time is 6-8 weeks. Really not acceptable in comparison to other r/c companies I have dealt with this year (also during the pandemic). Will be buying my wife another system.
Using this radio to race 2wd 17.5 stock buggy, for the money you cant beat it. Has pleanty of adjustments and tuning options, the setup and user interface is great, easy to get use to. If your looking for a radio setup on a budget this is the one to get
Decent performance at a decent price. Way better response than the Spektrum crap that comes stock nowadays. Grip seam felt weird to me at first but not a deal breaker.
Much better then the one that came with RTR.Can't beat the quality for the money, feel and response much better.
So far so good. Its easy to use and its light weight
Tremendous upgrade over an RTR radio. The ability to set the brake end point is now a must-have feature for me. This changes the whole behavior and driving experience of a 2WD RC car. This allows you to more easily brake without locking up your tires and spinning out. Really has improved my driving and enjoyment. The radio came paired with the receiver so no worries there. The only issue was the receiver was much larger than the stock receiver and it took some patience making it and all the wires/antenna fit inside the stock receiver box. Range and performance is excellent.
Upgraded from a Spectrum DX3.0.
Compact and light weight! Really comfortable for hand. Just installed and it was really to go, no binding needed.
Love it, never had one problem binding or anything. Fast response time, limited telemetry options for a hundred bucks, can’t beat it. And cheap receivers too. For this price it’s the best looking, all the others look or feel clunky. Only draw-backs might be, for small hands, has a long reach to reverse, and menu is long, pushing the buttons many many times to scroll through it.
Haven't used it yet but I'm familiar with futaba I like their products and when I do use it it's going to be just the way it's supposed to perform
Nice remote for the price, I use it on my et410.2
Great radio for the price. It has many features and works well
For a budget radio system, I’m very impressed with it’s features and performance. Navigating the menu takes some practice but that’s a minor issue.
Works great definitely what I needed .I will definitely be using Amain in the future
Excellent value for the money. Noticable improvement over the RTR radio.
Much nicer than I expected at this price point. It "feels" like a top end unit.
Great product it work very good on my remote control cars I use it for all my cars with no problem
