Flite Test Mighty Mini Scout Speed Build Electric Airplane Kit (609mm)
I built the Mighty Mini Scout as my first scratch/kit-built airplane. Building it using the plans, not the speed-build kit, I made some mistakes in the build process (such as gluing the wing together with less under-camber on one side than the other) that made it uncontrollable at first. I also found the servos pretty difficult to install in the small hole provided, but once again, I was a newbie at building. I later built a new wing and installed it without difficulty, but even so, the plane still did not fly particularly well. By this time, my skill level was progressed to the point that this plane no longer held my interest, so I scrapped its electronics to build an FT Long EZ (which flies better).
Since I didn't build the Scout using the Speed-build kit, and it was my first build, I can't confidently say my problems were due to the design, but either way, my experience was not very positive with this plane. I would recommend something more along the lines of the FT Simple Cub as a first FT plane: the bigger size makes it much more straight forward and relaxing to assemble.
Hope this helps!

Flite Test Mighty Mini Scout Speed Build Electric Airplane Kit (609mm)
I have three FT planes. All have been scratch built from plans that were downloaded. Of the three, this is my favorite so far. It flies really well and makes a great park flyer. Looking forward to building it's big brother soon. Also looking forward to buying a speed build kit to see how much different it is.

Flite Test Mighty Mini Scout Speed Build Electric Airplane Kit (609mm)
I built this plane from scratch as of Dec 2020. So I see the video build instructions are dated earlier by several years. I had a heck of a time actually fitting the current "radial power pack A" into the plane. One thing I did that seemed to help is to cut a small rectangular opening in the cock pit area through the wing that let me fish each of the three servo plugs through. Then I connected those to the receiver and let that stuff live just above the wing. This gave me just enough room to fit the 3 cell 850 mAh battery into the front of the plane. Not sure I can get the landing gear in there but we will see. Overall Im really hoping it will fly in the "smaller" back yard.

Flite Test Mighty Mini Scout Speed Build Electric Airplane Kit (609mm)
I built this plane from the plans and it was a really easy build. This was my first scratch build by myself. It also flew really well (I crashed it over 30 times and it was still okay) and was really easy to fix. The controls were really easy to set up and you could easily fly through tight areas.
