EMAX 12A BLHeli Electronic Speed Controller
First off, let me start by saying that Amain hobbies is a great place to do business with.

As for the EMAX ESC, I was very disappointed. I purchased two of these devices. On the plus side, they were the perfect form factor for my project. The first ESC I installed seemed to work fine, it calibrated ok, it throttled up fine, but after about 30 seconds of runtime, it cut out and reset. I checked my setup, and tried again, same thing. Tried one more time and the controller burst into flames. Not expected behavior.

Ok, I can see that maybe it was just a defect controller, so I replaced it with the second one. Checked the connections, Calibrated it, throttled it up, and it seemed to work. Tried to go flying. Throttled it up, took off and the controller cut out again and reset. It did the same thing as the first, without the flames this time.

Just to make sure I wasn't doing something wrong, I swapped the controller with another manufacturer (US). The plane works fine and I'm still flying with the other(US) controller.

I really can't recommend this ESC based on my experiences. I bought it because it was inexpensive and it was recommended, I guess you get what you pay for. Sorry.

Regards,
Mark

EMAX 12A BLHeli Electronic Speed Controller
I got 2 of these, bolth work fine. One is on a mighty Mini Corsair with FT Radial 1806 motor, running 3 and 4s, powering 4- 3.7g servos no issues there, but on 4s with Gemfan 6x6 2 blade prop the esc must go into thermal protection mode, because after about 30sec of flight the throttle output is reduced to less than half.
The second is on a custom half sized FT Explorer with a no brand 1806, running 2 and 3s, but only powering 2- 2.5g servos with no issues. I think they are great escs as long as you don't ask to much from them.
