CRC WTF1 DS 1/10 Competition F1 Chassis Kit
This build is by far the most stressful build I have ever encountered. I have built probably over 30 kits since I started RC racing in 2011. To begin, the screws are SAE, seriously CRC get with it and switch to metric.

1. That is not the only issue with the screws. They about as soft as warm butter. If you get this kit, do yourself a favor and buy good screws. The kit screws easily strip, as matter of fact the very first screw when assembling the pivot stripped on me.

2. Second issue I ran it is there were 4 holes on the under side of the chassis that were not countersunk. Thankfully I have many tools and was able to countersink these myself. I couldn’t imagine getting this kit and then having to deal with returning or contacting CRC for such a simple and assuming automated process in their manufacturing.

3. I assumed that this kit would take regular sized servos. Well nope it has use a mini servo and there are not many good options. I opted for the Protek 500BL for its speed and torque. Ohh and did I mention you have to trim the ears off to get it to mount. My servo has an aluminum case so I had to grind and file them off. After sandwich mounting the server with double-sided tape, it surprisingly does seem sturdy, but Id rather have a mount that uses screws.

4. Kit does not come with a servo saver, which I think it should, but any how I had to get one. Ohh and by the way plan on picking up some screws and ball ends for the servo saver because the kit doesn’t come with those either.

5. Fixed Rear wing mount. Ha-ha what a joke, don’t even bother assembling it. Put it on and even with using CRC tires, the tires rub on the wing mount. Also no screws included to mount the rear wing

6. Got a Mon-tech front wing. Had to trim that to get it to fit.

I have not had a chance to run it yet, so I’m hoping it handles really well and all this frustration is worth it. I got it because it was significantly cheaper than some of the other brands like Xray and Serpent and I thought I had all the electronics to put in but ended up having to get a $90 servo and make it completely useless for any other car or application. I really wish I would have gone with another brand. This 100% will be the last CRC chassis I buy.

CRC WTF1 DS 1/10 Competition F1 Chassis Kit
Personally I feel the kit could be designed better. If your racing RC your not really concerned about kit cost. The installation instructions are not very good, the servo mount should have been designed better using proper mounts, the smaller screws are soft and strip. My biggest complaint is the mixing of SAE and Metric screws. Most the hobby companies are using full metric screws and I feel this would be better. But on the other side of the coin does the car perform well, I’m sure it will be as good as any of the others.
