NOTE: Water Resistant Design: The sensor board is coated with silicone conformal coating to protect the sensors from moisture. The sensor connections are not water resistant; water can cause signal loss which could result in loss of sensored capabilities. Castle recommended applying dielectric grease to the outside of the sensor wire connections after installation of the wire. Routine maintenance is recommended after running in wet conditions. Please refer to the document in the resources tab for running and maintaining motors in wet environments.

Castle Creations "Slate" 1406 Sensored 4-Pole Brushless Crawler Motor (2280kV)
This replaced a castle slate 1406 3800kv motor on my heavily upgraded redcat gen8 that approaches 9 lbs.
This motor is just what the doctor ordered! Brings on heavy duty yet smooth torque that the original motor provided before my mods.
If anyone is upgrading/modding any rock crawler to 9 lbs or so, go lower in kv than higher. With my experience and recommendations from Amain, I wouldn’t go any higher then a 2400kv.
Finally, the improvements are immediately noticeable on 2S; on 3S it's a BEAST. Haven't even needed to go 4S for my setup but nice to have that extra capability. Running with a Castle Mamba X ESC.
TL;DR
MY RIGS:
REDCAT gen 7 with team brood 30T Creep brushed motor : still the most torque I have owned!
REDCAT gen 8 axe edition swapped with castle mamba x esc, slate 2280kv, reefs 422hd v2 (came with it) complete Treal aluminum front and back axles (including all portals, c hubs, etc) a beast of a 9lb scaler type crawler!
Losi 1/16 mini-b 2.0 with castle 0808 5300kv and mamba micro x. A few HD racing aluminum upgrades. Extremely fast and the most nimble rc truck / buggy I own in a class by itself!! Out of box it’s a little delicate... with some choice aluminum upgrades it is bomb proof.
Axial 1/18 Yeti can am heavily upgraded with every aluminum part I could literally find. Changed out wheels for larger ones to make it more stable and more like a true rock racer vs tiny plastic stock rims and tiny wheels. Motor is a hobbywing 380 brushless and esc.. this rig gets run the most in the winter inside my home just bashing around with my young son.
REDCAT WENDIGO mentioned above with only other upgrade a reefs 422hd v2 servo. Redcat has seriously improved the structural integrity and tough design with the wendigo over its sister gen 8 platform
My next purchases:
AXIAL CAPRA KIT to just get a true pro level crawler and borrow and steal components I already have to make it affordable.
AXIAL RYFT: this may be the true all purpose holy grail rig... just isn’t due in stock for several more months!
