Long rumored, occasionally seen at trade shows, Castle’s elusive 1/8th scale Monster Brushless ESC is finally available to the public. Castle has used all of their tricks to deliver stunning power for monster trucks and 1/8th buggy conversions.

The Monster handles up to 6S LIPO input (25.2 Volts MAX). It has a switching BEC circuit onboard to provide plenty of power for your receiver and servos. Don’t worry about the amp rating, nothing even comes close to the real world performance of the Castle controllers, and Monster is no exception. We’ve hit 60 mph with RC vehicles that have absolutely no business doing 60 mph. (And we were doing it in a 20 mph zone!)

Monster is designed to keep its cool while it pounds your truck. Castle refused to cut corners on the design or the components, the electronic and thermodynamic fundamentals are right to begin with. Castle then wrings a bit more power out by using a high efficiency heat sink PLUS an integrated cooling fan to make sure you finish the race. Thermals are for the other guys.

Monster ESCs come with huge 6.5mm gold plated bullet connectors for reliable power transfer and simple installation. We’ve even thrown in a Castle Link USB adapter so you can tame the Monster by adjusting the settings using your Windows PC.

Castle Creations Mamba Monster 1/8th Scale Brushless ESC
Best esc I've ever used. I've used Xcelerin for one eighth scale, bad experiences but great customer service. I also used novak, HV for one eighth scale, had some serious trouble, like esc fire and many motors gone out, but great customer service. and lastly, I now use the Mamba Monster motor and esc, I own both 2200kv for my e-revo, insane fast on 6cell lipo. and the buggy motor 2650kv and it's just beautiful. No problems with castle motor in one year of rediculous punishment, I'm talking about all day at the track, battery pack after battery pack ALL DAY, non stop, just pulling in to change the battery, Yes I run six chargers and have over thirty lipo's and that allows me to run all day. no I'm not rich I just save my money for years until I have enough to buy exactly what I want. and this is it. the Mamba Monster is AWESOME. When I did have a speed control problem, it was a minor problem. the car just stopped for example, but this only after a fourty foot jump and slammed down and pinched a wire/cut a wire to the esc. Castle took care of it under one year warranty. after one year you pay a flat rate of seventy dollars to fix the esc if any problems, and that gives you another year warranty. not like novak that only gives you 120days. but novak has always been good to me and are also great people. I just don't like it when my car speed control catches on fire and burns my lipo's and my body, a little. don't like that smell, don't like that period. Castle creations in my opinion are the masters of this technology, consider that they have worked closely with Steve Neu and co/designed these monster motors, thus the Castle/Neu name on the box. it's a match made in heaven. I've never spun a rotor on a castle/neu motor, so I recumend this ESC with the motor esc combo. if you own a truck, or truggy, get the 2200kv, it's a longer can, it's the 1515 can. the 2650kv is the 1512 can, it's a shorter motor and gives you less torque and more rpm, but for buggies it's perfect. as for spinning the rotors on a motor, I spunn ABOUT 15 ROTOr's on the novak 6.5 hv motor. and followed all recumendations for gearing and setup. that's when I switched to something different. the supprise was that the castle system cost less than the novak. but don't get me wronge, novak customer service is courteous, nice and professional, and I still run novak in all ten of my 1/10th scale buggies, trucks and rock crowlers. but I bought all that before I knew anything about castle. I'm just trying to be honest here and give a good idea of my personal technology experiences. Hope this helps. and i'm sure novak will fix their esc and motor problems soon, if they haven't allready. But for now, I'm sticking with what's working for me now, and that's castle creations mamba monster motor/esc combo. Tuff as Bullets.

Castle Creations Mamba Monster 1/8th Scale Brushless ESC
Well it's broken, didn't even have it for 10 minutes and its dead. This is the second MM to blow on me after just one run. I would not recommend this thing to anyone. I can't even send it back for warranty because I live in South Africa.

Castle Creations Mamba Monster 1/8th Scale Brushless ESC
This is great ESC. No, it's not sensored. It's not going to have the smooth power delivery that a good sensored system will have. It's still a great speed control though. It comes with the Castle Link plug that allows you to program it from your PC. You can also get the optional program card that allows you to program it without a PC. It comes with more tuning options than you will ever need. It's durability is without equal. In the world of expensive 1/8th scale racing, this is like gold to us. To give you an idea how tough this thing is, let me give you an example. From a hard hit, my unit got detached from the tray (RC8Be). It fell out the back of the buggy and got dragged in the dirt for about 20 feet. It got banged around pretty good and filled up with dirt. Took apart the case, cleaned it out and it worked fine. No problem. You wont see that kind of durability from it's main competitor. However, no item is without cons. This is a big bulky ESC, so you may have trouble with smaller ESC trays, so fitting it could be an issue. The on/off switch is very poorly designed. It WILL fail on you eventually, unless you find a way to keep any kind of dust/dirt from getting on it. The ESC case is weak where the two halves come together and it will come apart on you if you are not careful. The big sticker that comes on will keep it together, but it tears off easily when you remove the servo tape. Castle service is good, but they have long turn around times for repairs. Still, this is the best value for the money in the world of 1/8th scale.

Castle Creations Mamba Monster 1/8th Scale Brushless ESC
I have run this esc in my RC8Te for about a month now. As a disclaimer, this is my only 1/8 scale ESC I have experience using. I have found the esc runs at an appropriate temp with both a 4S and 5S lipo. It was easy to setup and easy to change the settings using the Castle Link software. I am using the Castle Link software with Vista and have not experienced any issues updating the Mamba Monster, Mamba Max, or the CC BEC.

My one gripe is the wire to the reciever is barely long enough to run it through AE's recommended wiring route.

I highly recommend Castle products and their customer support is fanastic.

Castle Creations Mamba Monster 1/8th Scale Brushless ESC
Great speed control, using it in a Brushless losi 8T with a 4s lipo and Neu 1512/2.5D/F and i could not be happier. Looks great and is very flexible if you have a PC to use the CastleLink software.

I have yet to hear any complaints about the V.2 Monsters, all the issues from the first troubled batch seem sorted out now.

Good stuff, would buy again.

Castle Creations Mamba Monster 1/8th Scale Brushless ESC
This is a good ESC with poor software. Do not use windows Vista with the Castle link - use xp. If you use vista, you have the chance of the ESC failing to operate; however, if you reconnect it to an XP operating system, you can update the ESC, and it will again work properly. I had to figure this out the hard way by sending multiple units back. Other than that issue, the ESC is great - no overheat issues! Also, be aware that this ESC is far from waterproof or resistant. I did nuke one in a little puddle.

Hi Elissa, hope your having a good day!

Castle Creations Mamba Monster 1/8th Scale Brushless ESC
This is version 3 and they really got it right this time. Using it with a Neu 1515 motor in a Emaxx and it is crazy fast. I tuned it down quite a bit to make it more driveable and save the Maxx drivetrain. Battery, esc and motor temps are all very reasonable. If you need it, buy it... you will love it. Z
