Carisma SCA-1E 1/10 Scale '81 Range Rover 4WD RTR Scale Rock Crawler
This is the first Carisma rtr that I have ever owned. The scale of the body is spot on & a great replica of the 81 Range Rover. Everything worked great out of the box & the factory assembly was very good. It does great on the trail & the Drag Brake is spot on! I have added front & rear lights to the body & will soon add a front mounted winch. Great job Carisma! I highly recommend this product!

Carisma SCA-1E 1/10 Scale '81 Range Rover 4WD RTR Scale Rock Crawler
The window decals were already applied on the body and were in terrible condition. They were not installed with care. The decal logo on the front grille is crooked. The shocks are getting stuck in place even after I added more oil. This product overall is terrible as RTR. It should have been sold as a kit to allow hobbyist to apply decals themselves. The drag brakes are way too much. This thing stops on a dime which makes it looks like a toy as apposed to a scale vehicle.

The body resemblance to the 1981 model is excellent. I like that it supports a light system that can be added as an upgrade.

Carisma SCA-1E 1/10 Scale '81 Range Rover 4WD RTR Scale Rock Crawler
It's the first 1/10 RC I purchased after my 20-year hiatus in this hobby. ( my previous car was a Carrera 1/10 Ferrari made in late '90s ) And I would say it is worth the price at $349, but it is better as a no battery edition at a lower price. ( I would say my 3200mAh battery gives it just enough playtime for me, so probably the 1400mAh battery in some other editions provided is insufficient )

The vehicle from the box has wider wheels and they drive in the snow quite well ( I live in nothern Michigan so the snow bank is higher than most places in the world. ) with good grip and handling characters. I prefer the plain steel rim look and even after the downgrade 1.9in rim with 90mm outer diameter, it still crawls in the snow nicely ( with the smaller wheels, it will be stuck in loose snow, but after 2 sunny days it can go as far as I wish, proving the traditional live axle on the vehicle will not affect its off road ability. ) thus not using portal axle doesn't seem to be a drawback, and it maintains a closer resemblance to the real vehicle. Negative offset from factory wheel gave very good stability ( not easy to flip ) and even with zero offset wheel, the stability during corner is good. Motor and running gear are capable enough to handle 45 angle and placement of battery helps in this regard too. It is water resistant enough not to be too worried when it is snowy during outside runs.

Still, there are few drawbacks: the mirrors are horribly fragile. It will break with contact on the ground, so aftermarket parts or tweaking would be more desirable. And since it is a RHD model ( judged from wipers ) it will be historically correct by putting one, robust mirror on driver side. ( you can see few low spec Range Rover with only one mirror in older tv shows ) And it doesn't come with fender guard from the factory, and I'm glad I bought one to go with it. LED lights are supported but this vehicle takes two sets of LED to lid up all the lights ( headlights, taillights, corner lights, fog lights ) and a splitter is needed for this. Taking apart the reciever box is needed ( and most likely the seal on the top will come loose, so preparing some auto grade silicone seal is a good idea ) for the lights and it isn't entirely easy. The body height can be lowered without sacrifice to the ground clearance or wheel travel ( with high offset wheels ) to make it more scale looking but the bumpers need some creative ideas for attachment. ( and I prefer to use them to protect the scale body. Front and rear bumpers are included in the box. They are moderately strong, for occasionally impacts, just don't go down the steps with it, the plastic frame will break )

The transmitter is nice, with good response. The only concern is it in regular mode, switching between throttle, braking, reserve is a bit slow, if compared to Kyosho Mini-Z vehicles. And it is a bit complicated to change the mode( slow mode, regular, crawler ) for someone younger ( not as simple as Mini-Z ) as the process is similar to vintage 2-bit programming.

Overall I'm quite delighted by this vehicle since it is the only few choices for an understated looking stylish 1/10 crawlers on the market with capabilities to backup ( I worked at GM, Ford and Chrysler at different stages of life, and I drove enough Jeep Wranglers already ) besides common choices of American trucks ( something I quite dislike ) JDMs ( unless a Y60, but it's not RTR ), or overly fancy status symbol modern W463 ( than G460 ) at a scale size ( This vehicle has 285mm wheelbase, something rather close to 108in for the real one ) than having a 1/10 crawler with wheelbase over 300mm ( which would be over 3 meters, longer wheelbase than Ford Crown Victoria ), limiting the abilities for off-road.
