The Align T-Rex 500X is a refreshing revision of the ever popular 500 class helicopter! Featuring many new updates such as the FL Rotor Head System, larger 470mm main blades, tail rotor belt driven system, & sliding battery tray system. All of the updates both physically and electronically are built to deliver one of the best 500 class flight experiences to date! Typically smaller helicopters are not as stable, and not as powerful as their larger class brothers. The 500X changes this concept drastically and is as stable as it's larger brothers.

Align T-Rex 500X Super Combo Helicopter Kit
I purchased this in February 2017 and flew it throughout the 2017 season. This is a great helicopter, quiet, efficient, lots of power, and extremely smooth operating. I have one friend with a slightly older Align 600FBL who prefers the crispness of my 500 over his larger heli. Any issues I had with the helicopter were taken care of immediately through the seller. The one big issue I had was with the original "80X" model esc which shorted out on my first flight. Everything went dead and I was very lucky to be only 1 to 2 feet off the ground when it happened so the heli thankfully did it's own ugly auto-rotation. I was provided the upgraded "80A" model ESC at no charge.
Things I liked the most include:
1.) The turnbuckles on the linkage rods so that I can precisely adjust the links.
2.) The manual was understandable
3.) I like having 4 canopy grommets to hold down the canopy.
4.) The machining of the metal parts is excellent. It's a great looking helicopter when it's all assembled.
Couple of things to keep in mind:
1.) The belt system does slip and get loose as the tension screws won't stay perfectly in place. I have to make 8 full turns on both tension screws to get the belt right, I have tried to pull out the tailboom to take up some of the slack but it won't hold with just the 2 bolt that hold the boom to the tailboom block.
2.) The location of the ESC conflicts with the battery release hatch. I cut a small wedge of lightweight wood and put it under the ESC so that the capacitors are lifted up in the air above the battery tray release switch. That added about 10 grams of weight to the heli.
3.) I wish they had included some anaerobic retainer.

Align T-Rex 500X Super Combo Helicopter Kit
60+ flights in and this bird flies well. Purchased this and gave away my all my 450 Pros. Keep this 500x well serviced and it will fly well for you too. Adhere to the instructions and replace parts after so many flights, just like real a helicopter.
The MicroBeast it came with had more to be desired. Clunky setup, flashing lights, easy to make misconceptions with and make mistakes. It flew with the 'beast don't get me wrong, but the align 500x really opened up when I used a different FBL, the FC6250HX. Anymore, most FBL's have a GUI with better help and are more intuitive.
