These are actually pretty darn good motors for the price. I have had very good luck with them. Take these other negative reviews with a grain of salt. I've seen people burn up these motors with improper gearing. Then they blame the motor, the truck, Traxxas and God. These motors can last a while if you take care of them. Break them in according to the manual. After every race/practice day, clean them off and add a little bushing lube on each end. If they fill up with dirt and grime, blow them out with an air hose. Gear properly for the application. If you overheat them, they wont last long. A little care will go a long way. These motors have very good torque and moderate speed. In bone stock trim, with no upgrades, they will do about 23 mph. They are great for spec racing. I've used quite a few of them in Spec Slash classes and have been very pleased. They are sealed can brushed motors, so they wont last forever. I've had some last for months and still perform well. How long they last also depends on the conditions you run them in. If you run outdoors in dusty conditions, then their lifespan will probably be shorter. If you run indoors on a clay surface, then you will get more life out of them. They mass produce these things, so occasionally you will get a bum one that goes like that. Traxxas is a pretty good company so there shouldn't be a problem getting a replacement.
I hate to contradict another review, but I have seen these run HARD for an entire racing season in a bone stock 2WD Slash and have zero problems. I have also used them in low priced RWD buggy along with an XL-5 Brushed ESC with no issues. When geared correctly it does heat up a bit but not so much that the motor would fry itself. Brushed motors naturally run hot and have a limited life compared to brushless due to their "brushes". Dollar for dollar this seems like the most powerful motor you can buy.
my first motor went out but that was my fault. the second one, has been running great for about 6 months now since I learned to not shove it in reverse and to break it in before i open 'er up to top speeds. also, keeping it clean helps. I like this motor. it's great for the cost, 25.00, can't beat that.
i have run these for years with proper gearing they last forever they out run stock brushless all the time
I raced this motor in a slash spec class for several years and only replaced it once.
My favorite brushed motor. I run this in my factory team T4 with a 23t pinion and a 4500 2s lipo on a midsize loose offroad track. I get very controllable acceleration, controllable punch, and very good top speed. I tried brushless motors in the same vehicle and they were very hard to control with any pinion and eventually sheared CVDs and dogbones with any pinion/slipper combo. I have found in this vehicle that brushless has unpredictable punch, and unpredictable low end. A popular recent issue rc mag has even stated they prefer the low end of brushed better (which I agree with with one exception: the first gen brushless peak/orion motors w/internal fan have excellent low end). This motor is the remedy for all the things I dont like in brushless. It is predictable, linear, and not OVERpowered.
this motor is awesome and has never failed me. i am running 25t pinion with a 55 tooth spur and it gets hot but never has died. i can do burnouts for days and nothing happens. i bought this in store. good thing i realized i was running reversed wires but after i fixed that it was great. will make my 1/16 e-revo do frontflips and backflips on flat ground.
EDIT: i forgot to say that it is very waterproof. got it stuck in water and flooring it for about two minutes to get it unstuck and it worked fine.
Great motor, lasted for about 2 years. I have the Stampede and I drove it almost everyday. It does suck that it just died on me. I turned the car on and the steering worked but no throttle. As I pushed he accelerator, I could hear the noise of the motor ( beeping noise). I talked to traxxas, they said the motor. Over all, I'm very pleased with th motor.
This motor is very good i had the same one in my slash 2wd and i race it very hard i time a week and i have never burned out a motor and never had to do anything to except i had to sauter the wire back to the motor after a racer collision and after that it is still running i beleive it is traxxas 's best brushed motor to date
i had the motor in a slash and i treated it really bad, it ran about 1 to 2 months and it gave up more parts broke than this motor i didn't break it in ( which i didnt know how to) but it still ran really good
i dont know where your getting your titan motors from but the ones i have are working amazing. just be sure to break them in, and they'll last a few months easily
Order This motor, great price, great Product!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good quality, fast, fits perfectly on the 2WD Slash.
I installed this into an Arrma Voltage after the stock 20t motor wore out. I tried the Arrma 12t out of my Mega Granite, it almost seamed slower than the stock 20t. Ive read the Titan motor runs strong, and gave it a try. The car runs much faster than stock, im very pleased with it. Its plenty fast now without going to a brushless setup.
First off, I'd say that this is a good motor, just not designed for use in a 4x4 monster truck with a 2s lipo. This motor came stock in my Stampede 4x4. It's actually pretty fun on 2s 5000mah 50c lipo! Wheelies on grass, drive up curbs and decent top speed for brushed 4x4. The problem is that it gets HOT easily running in grass and even hard acceleration on road. Today I was running it hard for a minute, then let it cool a little with slower driving. The high temp was 182 on the motor (over 150 is bad). I've ran it a total of 3 times like this, and it's still working. With the 2s lipo battery, it would be very easy to run the temp into the mid 200's, which would burn it up super quick. When it dies, I'll replace it with a Hobbywing SCT max10 120A ESC and 3200kv motor combo with a 15t 32p 5mm team associated pinion. If this titan could stay cool without having to stop every few minutes, I would keep it in this truck. My daughter and I are having a blast with it, and I like that it's powerful enough to be fun, but not so powerful that it breaks drive-line parts.
the motor sucks i got a slash with the 12t and that burned out and bought one than that burned out than bought another one than that burned out so i just go brushless
Burned up 2nd time using it..... Literally caught fire running 2s at 70% throttle
Went through a few of these and there great, although you might want to make sure you throw some lube in them and run them they get pretty dry and your bearings go bad and then you wait a few for a new one would recommend for sure though great replacement.
Not a good buy for speed, not bad for torque. I have burned up 2 of them in a few months. I am running it in a rustler with a 23 tooth pinion and 86 tooth spur. This is well within the limit of the motor specs but not so much..... Go with 19 tooth only and it s a great motor for the money. I am upgrading to the blazinly fast and reliable velineon system. Cant wait.
MOTOR MUITO FRAGIL QUEIMA MUITO FACIL AS ESCOVAS E UM A PORCARIA
