This is the LaTrax Alias Ready-To-Fly Micro Electric Quad-Copteris a clean-sheet design that focuses on the performance and design elements that make flying, and even learning to fly, fun. The first mission objective was durability. Alias is built around a unique molded-composite frame that is combined with clever high-tech construction to make it extremely light and virtually indestructible. Your flying fun goes on and on without worrying about breakage from crash damage. The next mission was performance. Fun always comes from having more power so Alias' motors have 50% more power than standard motors, and when combined with the lightweight design and high-tech materials, Alias is lightning quick and ultra-responsive. A completely redesigned flight control system was developed that provides unmatched 6-axis stability that works in the background without impacting performance and speed. It acts like a virtual spring that snaps Alias back to level controlled flight no matter what situation you find yourself in. New pilots can fly faster and perform aerobatic maneuvers sooner than they ever thought possible with Alias' unique flight control system.

Traxxas LaTrax Alias Ready-To-Fly Micro Electric Quadcopter Drone (Red)
A lot of good times for a hundred bucks.

I bought this on my last deployment to pass the time. I got so into it that I started buying upgraded motors, replacement frames, blades, and basically rebuilt the thing over and over again for fun. It would attract a cat that lived under one of the buildings, and survived all of the beatings that the cat dished out on it.

I also let everyone give it a try, and over the course of the last six months of that deployment COUNTLESS people straight up PLOWED that drone into walls, and the drone acted like nothing had even happened.

One contractor wanted to try it. He lost his orientation and started flying it straight up. It gave a low battery signal at what looked like 250-300ft, died, and plummeted to the earth. We found it, and it cracked a part of a leg, but it was still very much intact. I pulled another fresh battery out of my jacket and the drone was just ready for more, again, like nothing even happened. I was stunned. It looked like it was using the remaining battery to stay level on its way down and cushion its fall as much as it could.

I never had a stock motor burn out on me, and the thing freakin rips for a hundred bucks. I did however crash it into my pool when I got home, and 3 of 4 motor outputs on the motherboard still worked, but still, its flying days were over....so I bought another one....which I promptly crashed into a canal. So unless you're obsessed with crashing into water, you CANNOT break this thing without trying.

Common parts that wear or crack with heavy use (in order of most common to least common, in my experience):

- The replaceable black plastic gear that mates with the motor output (a tooth or two breaks off occasionally) *very cheap to replace*

- The blades (leading edge of blades deteriorates) *very cheap to replace*

- The legs that attach to the frame (area around the pads is susceptible to cracking, not critical) *cheap to replace*

Loved this thing while I had it

Traxxas LaTrax Alias Ready-To-Fly Micro Electric Quadcopter Drone (Red)
I purchased this drone for my grandson, and 2 spare batteries. When I got home I charged all the batteries and started flying the drone as a test to see if I could train him to fly it easily. After flying for a while the first battery was drained, so I put in the next one, after about half a minute the drone suddenly dropped and recovered itself several times so I landed it. When I tried to take off again after checking that all connectors were well seated, one of the motors was not turning. I checked again the connectors and disconnected the battery and shut off the transmitter. I waited about 1 minute and started back up and the unit paired correctly, but the one motor was still not working. After driving nearly 100 miles to get this drone I am sad to say I feel this is a poorly made drone if you can't fly it using more than one battery to spend about 45 minutes enjoying it. I got to fly for almost 20 minutes and now can not use the drone again until I "spend" more money to fix whatever is wrong with it. It did fly well while it lasted, but that is NOT very good since I could not even drain 2 batteries before it failed.
