Trinity D4 1S "Certified" Short Stack Brushless Motor (17.5T)
I am the president of Chargers RC club located in Queensland, Australia. I bought one of these motors to use in the National Championships to race in the 4wd buggy "stock" class. When i tried the motor it seemed to rev ok, but didn't accelerate smoothly in reaching peak rpms. It was like it had 2 speeds...very slow to begin with, then fast after a few seconds. I tried another motor to see if there was an issue with the speed control but the other motor worked fine.

I emailed Trinity about the issue and the team manager (Kevin M Abbott) replied giving me two options - send the motor back or he could send me a new sensor board. I picked the second option, since i felt nervous about posting a $150 motor. He asked for my address and that was the last i heard from him. That was almost 6 months ago. After waiting a few months I still didn't get anything in the mail, so i sent him a reminder. I didn't get a reply.

I'd like my experience to serve as a warning to anyone considering purchasing Trinity products that:

1. The product may be defective and
2. The customer service may be inadequate

Please don't think that because you pay a lot of money that you will get a defect-free product. Be especially careful if you are not located in the US, as warranties may be more difficult to get honoured. I now have a $150 paper weight, so it was an expensive lesson but i hope my experience will help others to avoid similar mistakes.

response to your first comment. yes your right.
since the introduction of this 17.5 Stock class. r/c in general has went down hill.
for amount of money they re stealing from the 17.5 stock racers, they should send you 2 to replace it if you've got a crappy one.
if for no other reason than to keep racers involved and tracks open.
how many more tracks have to close before the thievery stops. 150.00 for a 5 dollar motor.
because why? to pay pro level drivers to run in a 17.5 stock class?
why roar hasn't put a real set of rules governing cost at the club level is mind boggling.
no way shape or form should it cost more for a stock motor than a modified..yet it costs me more to build a competitive 17.5 2wd buggy than it does to build a mod 4wd buggy...it makes me wanna puke..
