I hope you morons who wrote that your hex screw snapped do realize that you DO NOT need to torque down with the same pressure of a MAC SEMI-TRUCK! Do you fools realize that? Guess what, if you do not even tighten the screw it still will be held on by the pressure of the wheel nut. You guys are a trip!
These fit the heavy duty axles part #71019 that come with the b5m lite. The heavy duty axles are .3mm larger where the hex clamps. From my experience they will not clamp tight on the b5 or b5m axle but will on the axle that comes with the lite. Maybe that is why one of the reviews says they keep breaking the screws???? They can't get them tight??? Not sure. I don't believe it should say they are compatible with the b5 or b5m.
These work great. Here's the deal. Put them in a vise and close them all the way. Put them on your axle, and put the screw in with some locktite , snug, but not tight so they don't strip. They are strong, and hard to bend, and if you try to use the screw to tighten them up, they'll strip. So close them up with the vise first.
These work great on the DR10 if your looking for a set of aluminum hexes. Just snug the screw! Keep in mind the screw is captured by the wheel itself so they don't have to be "twight like a tiger". :-)
I too was a victim of these screws!!!! B6’s are so good and cheap I can’t be too upset.... and you can still use it loose, just easy to lose the pin.
For the t5m, i squeeze the hex in a small vice prior to adding the screw. This allows the hex to fit snug on the axle and just tap it on with a socket, install screw tighten till you feel a tiny bit of resistance. I also pre-thread screw to rid any burs from machining. The 7mm hex i find to be to narrow in the front, for it will rub on the inside edge of the wheel causing a loop out at full lock.
Snapped head off screw loosening it. Now I have to buy a second set of hexes.
These are not intended for the B5M or they just completely suck. Regardless they dont snap on the wheel of a champions edition and are completely worthless.
As a bonus I emailed AE with my problem and their answer was "dont overtighten the screw"
So glad they also stand behind their product.
Dont buy these for a B5M

Aluminum stripped while pre-threading screw. Very soft or poor threading. Building a brand new B5M CE, failed at this step.
Same thing happened to me snapped! The reason i didnt give a 1 was that all it took was an e-mail to AE & I received new ones within 2 days.. Still they need to include titanium screws since it uses these small 2.5mm screws or make them 3mm also compared the size on my T5M & their like 1-1.5mm more narrow than the stock ones so the description is very misleading. I also don't even think they would work on the front of the T5M. Also where are the factory Team Blue Aluminum front axles that are like the ones that come on the lite.. I would use those so I don't have to buy axles that are too small & these things for the front....
Just like the other reviews I snapped the screw on one of the two clamps in my B5M lite kit. Clamp hadn't even gotten tight before it snapped. Always issues with Associated kits. Their quality control is very poor.
Screw snapped off inside the hex with minimal pressure. Screws are way too soft.
Only fits large axle On T5m or is you have the HD axles on B5m lite. Screws are low grade compared to the other AE hex screws, usual small amount of cinching snapped them.
CRAP SCREWS that comes with the wheels hex's... Ive bought 2 sets now, and each time Ive tried to put them on, (WITH LITTLE PRESSURE) the screws SNAPPED.... Need stainless screws.... (Bought them for my T5M) They fit, but the screws SUCK!!!
Once again I called Amain to ask what part I actually needed. They said the 7mm hex is stock in the T5M. Wrong again.
This item is not compatible with b5 and b5m!!! do not deceive customers, it is hanging on the axle , money thrown away!
