This is the ParkZone P-47D Thunderbolt PNP. Affectionately dubbed "The Jug", Republic’s P-47D Thunderbolt was a swift, multi-role fighter that was as much of a menace to ground targets as it was enemy aircraft. Its rugged airframe, armored cockpit and eight .50-caliber machine guns allowed its pilots to fly into the teeth of heavy fire, devastate a ground target and still make it home despite significant damage.

ParkZone has brought The Jug to life with this great flying scale recreation that comes out of the box with details like a simulated radial engine, molded panel lines and a realistic 404th Fighter Group paint scheme. It’s even set up to let you easily add the option of functional flaps and retractable landing gear. And you can bet it flies every bit as good as it looks. The 15-size brushless motor and E-flite 30A Pro brushless ESC that are installed for you will provide more than enough power for high-speed strafing runs and sport aerobatics.

Best of all, you can have this Plug-N-Play® version ready to fly in minutes. All you need is a 4-channel full range or park flyer aircraft transmitter and receiver, a 3S 11.1V 2200mAh Li-Po battery, and a 3S Li-Po charger. A minimum of 6 channels will be required if you want to add the optional flaps and retractable landing gear.

ParkZone P-47D Thunderbolt Plug-N-Play
Sweet plane! A bit heavier that I was expecting, but I did add the retracts and flaps. Just a tad too fast to be my ideal park plane, but I still love fly'n the crap out of it. It has just under a 1:1 thrust ratio so it can't do an unlimited vertical climb. I know guys that supe these planes up with 4 Cells and they haul butt. Landings are a little faster than I hoped. I attached the belly skids so I could do grass landings in case I couldn't get it down on the runway. That was actually my whole reason for installing the retracts, so I could land either way. I gave it a 4 out of 5 stars because it's just a little to big to be a good park flyer, and a little to small to be worth driving out to the air field. Update: This plane is now my favorite plane that I own. I still think it's just slightly on the big/fast side for park flying but it is still so much fun to fly! I fly mostly at Marsh Middle school now since this plane is too big for my normal site. I take off from the paths at the school and then belly land it in the grass. 20+ belly landings so far and the belly and wings still look brand new. I have taken in to the air field and have done a few gear landings. Gear landings look smooth and scale.

This is one really great plane. I live in an area with alot of Scale planes and this thing turns heads. It flies like my 90" wingspan warbirds and will do all the same manuvers. It is a great plane to take to the park and practice for scale events. The retracts work great and just add to the fun and worth every penny. No air leaks to deal with. The realism of the wings and fuse is incredible. I haven't set up the flaps yet but am planning to as soon as I can stop flying it long enough. Another Home Run Park Zone.
