Best deal out right now by far. I have the race roller and bought this for my nephew. The differences are meaningless between the two as far as performance goes. The RTR chassis is stiffer as well which is a bonus IMO. The mach 427 is plenty fast, and the steering servo is adequate. HOWEVER, buy at least another z650 servo for the throttle/brake servo when you purchase this kit, as the supplied 270 is laughable. I actually recommend a 9000t for the steering then move the supplied steering servo to T/B duties(and use the rubber grommets!!) I also recommend going through the whole kit and locktighting everything, and filling the diffs per race roller specs. You may also want to buy a bumpbox and motor mount and ditch the supplied rotostart, though my nephews has been problem free so far. A bumpbox is just better IMO. The sportwerks pullstart eliminator sold here takes care of the backplate. The bottom line is that this is by far the cheapest way to go fast right now, and is an incredible deal. I have almost 1500$ in my settup, and my nephews truggy(rtr) feels and drives almost exactly like mine on the track for less than half that. The differences between the two are almost purely cosmetic besides the shock caps and shock towers which can be easily upgraded if you happen to tweak them. Two thumbs up!!!
