I was about to give up on my Losi Muggy, (AKA Losi Clutchkiller). I tried carbon shoes, 7075 aluminum shoes, low gearing, vented clutch bells, titanium nitride clutch bells and even expensive ceramic bearings, none of those things gave me more than 2-5 tanks of run-time, before the shoes melted and the bearings seized.
As a last resort I decided to buy the best clutch on the market, I bought the Fioroni turbo slider with the carbon shoes and put on a 12t vented clutch bell with ceramic bearings.
I can't believe how simple and effective this clutch is, it has outstanding grabbing power and after 3 GALLONS of fuel it shows no signs of wear.
Whoever came up with the shoe clutch is an idiot, shoe clutches are terrible, they have low grabbing power, chew up bearings, generate too much heat and are difficult to install.
Integy has made a slider clutch just like the fioroni, the design will probably show up in RTRs soon and eventually the outdated shoe clutch might disappear.
