I’m back for a follow up review. I love these batteries, and the LOOOONG run time they provide. I now have 2 of them, one for each slash 4x4. My average run time is 60 minutes with a stock velineon setup. I did have a couple problems though…
Your front battery post is going to snap right off with an average front impact. It just wasn’t designed for such a big battery. That’s ok, take a dremmel w/cutting wheel and cut slits flush with the bottom of the battery tray, one on each side at the front of the battery, and one on each side at the back of the battery, so that a strip of Velcro will slip around the battery and through the side of the tray, across the bottom inside, and through the other side. Line the rest of the tray with the loop side of the Velcro to make a nice, soft tray. Stick a piece of the hook Velcro to the back of the back battery hold down support. Make another long piece of Velcro strap to go around the battery long ways, front to back. Fasten the long strap first, around the back battery support and fasten in the front, taking care not to torque battery wires (I actually run the wires between the Velcro – strap with a notch, wire, strap) this holds the battery back. Then fasten the straps that go around the sides, these hold the battery down and the long strap in place. NOTE - When installing the Velcro, I always made sure the soft loop side of Velcro was against battery.
Your next problem will be over heating of your motor/esc, just because you’re bashing for so long. If you’re running a stock setup, get an esc fan and a motor heat sink with a fan and you’ll be fine. But if you’re a modified kind of guy – KEEP A CLOSE EYE ON TEMPS!!! You’ll be having fun, losing track of time, and before you know it, your motor is 260 degrees! The battery however, has never gotten hot. It is VERY UNLIKELY that you will EVER come close to the amp rating of this battery.
In conclusion… BUY THIS BATTERY!!! Rig up your Velcro straps and motor/esc fans, and go have tons of fun! |
