This is the first 4WD SC truck that I have bought and am extremely happy with the way it handles and especially it's durability. I mostly bash/race on a backyard track that is not groomed and has cement walls and after all the crashes and tumbles, the most damage I have managed to inflict on the car is on the body. I have bent the right front driveshaft and a-arms a few times crashing into the cement wall and was able to bend both back to almost stock specs. The plastic material that AE has used for this car is very stiff and can be heated up to bend back if you crash hard enough to bend it. I bought extra parts already in anticipation of breaking something but with 20 hours of hard use so far, it is still going with the original parts. People ask about the belt drive but so far it looks good....just make sure to check the belt tensioner so it doesn't get loose. It isn't the easiest car to take apart to work on because of the modular design but that is what makes it handle great in my opinion.
My only negative is that all the shocks were pre-built (which shouldn't be a negative) but they didn't put any threadlock on the screws holding the pistons and they will come out so you have to take them apart anyway to put threadlock.
I think Team associated has made a very durable car that handles extremely well and the only real upgrade other than a quality motor/ESC/radio is a good set of tires to suit your track. |
