I ran the stock piece forever and it worked fine. I just wanted to add a little ridgidity to the steering of my mbx-6 and it works great, be sure to add a new lower plastic piece when you add this, so it will slide smoothly, and keep the tension of the saver spring a tiny bit looser just in case, this really works and really inexpensive compared to fironi stuff...
