I got one and it is the bomb ! Exactly what I expected, a very cool scale looking vehicle with good performance. No way it gets around a conventional off road race track like a "purpose designed racing RC" but on open trails and rolling terrain with some "scale" jumps it works very well. The rtr esc and motor are ok, again, fast enough just not ballistic racer fast. After reading reports about smoking esc's I did some mods to the ESC mounting before ever running and so far so good, I understand the systems limits and expect no problems. The ESC has a not so effective heatsink (impo) and is tucked down in a hole with minimal airflow so a quick and easy solution was to simply take the esc up and mount it directly on the battery strap ! yup, and then take off the stock heatsink and the rubber piece (??) and stick on some regular old style esc heatsinks (i used some 20 year old tekins). More airflow, more effective cooling, no problem so far. It would be nice to have some more wheel and tire options but thats the hard core racer speaking. The shocks are pretty good for plastic ones, get some stouter springs adjust as needed. This one is a keeper : ) |
