This was my first real "Racing engine".... I had always messed around with RTR engines, so I always thought tuning and keeping engines runing would be a pain. THis engine changed my perception of the nitro part of the hobby. Break in was smooth, though the needles required some changes from the factory to get it running. After that, it idled and idled tank after tank with absolubtely no problems. I heat cycled it about 5-6 tanks before even putting it on the ground. I gave it a few more tanks of figure-8 driving in concrete and a little grass (very short). I then race tuned and put it on the track. The thing has so much power! It pushed my 8T 2.0 around like a radioshack car with a brushless system on it haha. Tons of low-end, great top end and acceleration. It has never ran above 220-225 F and has kept its tune quite easily. I havent had to change anything as of late. It has about a gallon through it, so I dont think Im even at full power yet, but right now its more than enough, especially for my Agama buggy. My next engine will be a P5 (whatever variation of it that is offered at the time). I will not be buying anything but Novarossi for powerplants in the future. Highly recommend it. Runtime is at around 9-9.5 min with Alpha pipe and header (cant remember the EFRA no.). |
