Bought this to replace a Hakko that bit the dust, I was very excited to have a digital unit from LRP. In comparison, I have to admit that I still think the Hakko maintains heat while soldering thick wire/battery packs, but performance is very comparable. The LRP's performance does not exceed the Hakko. Unfortunately, I never could get the LRP to shut off automatically, despite the magnet sensor in the holder, and programming menu.
