Since the release of the first T1 in 2001, XRAY has become
synonymous with quality, workmanship, performance, and luxury in the RC
world. With countless victories and national titles from all around the
world — including 16x title of US National Champion, 2x European Junior
Champion and multiple European Vice-Champion, and with multiple Car of
the Year Awards — XRAY touring cars have become the world’s most
favorite touring car as voted in the Reader’s Choice Awards.
Over
the years, XRAY’s Engineering Department has continued its ongoing
development, bringing with it a fresh new version of its touring car
platform, always superseding and improving upon its predecessors. Based
on the very successful T2 and T2’007 platforms, XRAY now presents the
improved and refined XRAY T2’008. For the first time, XRAY has
purposefully designed a touring car for both foam tire racing and
rubber tire racing — and also taking into account the 5-cell and 6-cell
racing rules — to gain a distinct edge in the highly-competitive
spectrum of foam and rubber tire racing.
In its first
event, the European Championships, Team XRAY & the pre-production
XRAY T2'008 took the TQ position and the title of European
Vice-Champion and accounted for 10 out of the top 20 positions and
placed 4 cars in the A main final and at the end gained the title of
European Junior Champion... one of the world’s most successful debuts
ever.
Whether you are racing with foam or rubber tires… with
5-cell or 6-cell batteries… or on either carpet or asphalt… there is a
T2’008 for you. You can choose between the US or EU Editions and have a
car that is finely tuned for each specific racing environment. Despite
both cars being built from the same platform and sharing all the same
goodies, both cars have very small details that enable you to gain an
edge in competitive performance.

Optimized Drivetrain The
ultra-efficient XRAY drivetrain has been improved again by optimizing
the drivetrain concept for particular foam and rubber chassis versions,
so as to obtain maximum efficiency for the particular conditions. Both
of these racing conditions are completely different, XRAY is the first
company to optimize the drivetrain for particular racing classes.
For
rubber tire racing, where rubber tires have larger diameter, the pulley
diameters have been increased to 38T diff pulleys along with smaller
16T center layshaft pulleys. The most frequently used diff combinations
have been incorporated into the car design, so now the front axle
features the all new ultra-lightweight XRAY Composite Solid Axle and
new rear adjustable lightweight composite ball differential.
For
foam tire racing where foam tires have smaller diameters, the pulley
diameters used maximize the efficiency of the drivetrain: 34T front
& rear diff pulleys along with larger 20T center layshaft pulleys.
Again, the most frequently used diff combinations have been
incorporated and the car features new front and rear adjustable
lightweight composite ball differentials.
Optimized Drive Shaft Lengths Not
only have the drive train been optimized, but also the transfer of
power to the wheels – through the drive shafts – Both have been
optimized for both rubber and foam racing conditions.
For rubber
tire racing, new longer 52mm drive shafts are used to allow the drive
shafts to be positioned more towards the cars centerline in the out
drive of the diff/solid axle. This generates more overall traction and
makes the car easier to drive on low-traction tracks.
For foam
tire racing, standard 50mm drive shafts are used as the foam tires have
generally higher traction than rubber tires and as such the shorter
drive shafts have optimum transfer of torque to the wheels.
