This is the ProTek R/C 4000mAh 20C Lithium Polymer Battery Power Pack.
Lithium Polymer batteries produce longer run-time with less weight than
traditional NiMH cells and have no memory effect! They can be charged
hours or days ahead of time and may be used and recharged limitless
times per day.
Unlike most other Lithium Polymer batteries, these batteries can be charged at up to 2 times the rated current, or 2C! If your charger is capable, you can charge these batteries at up 8A!
These ProTek R/C battery packs can be used in any
application where you need 6-cell NiMH stick or race packs, such as
1/10th scale electric touring cars or 2wd and 4wd off-road
vehicles. These packs are significantly lighter weighing only 200g
(7.1oz) when compared to regular NiMH race packs which weigh over 400g
(14oz) for the same capacity! This makes the overall vehicle weight
lighter for significantly improved acceleration. These batteries also
have a nominal voltage of 7.4V compared to the 7.2V of regular NiMH
batteries, and have a lot lower internal resistance. This leads to
better top speeds and improved 'punch' off the line when compared to
NiMH batteries.
These batteries will also make excellent starter box
batteries! You can significantly reduce the weight of your starter box,
as two of these batteries will weigh less than half than two 4000mAH
NiMH packs (400g vs 800g). This will make your starter box almost 1
pound lighter! Not to mention they will have increased voltage and
punch, making it easier to start a tight engine.
Note: Some vehicles may require some
re-balancing if the light weight of these batteries cause some
handling changes. To get the vehicle to balance correctly, add some
weight to the battery side of the vehicle. You may also need to use
some foam material to keep the battery firmly in place in your vehicle
so it cannot come out while you are driving.
NOTE: These batteries only have a 30C burst rating, so they are not particularly good for high current draw applications such as brushless 1/8th scale buggy and truck conversions. They work awesome for 1/10th scale 2wd and 4wd applications, but not for 1/8th scale. We recommend you use a 30C constant current battery for 1/8th scale brushless applications.
