Traxxas Rustler Stadium Truck RTR w/Waterproof XL-5 Speed Control (w/Battery & W
I am not a beginner at all but this car is great! (for a beginner) it is one of the toughest cars around, add some RPM parts and it is bullet proof i remenber crashing it into a couple of walls and it never gave up.
If you want something a LOT faster go for the Traxxas rustler VXL i have that to and i got the 11.1v 6500Mah 150c 3c batteries for it and it easilly reaches 90MPH but no way is it for a beginner i have EVERY possible RPM part for it and i have never broken it EVER

Update; since my review Traxxas updated this kit to include larger wheel bearings. You used to have to upgrade to them. -//- I have had a lot of Traxxas products. They are very durable. I took apart and weighed every part of the chassis and removed weight with a Dremel and a drill. It is a cheap way to add some performance. Some of the XL5 parts are lighter than the older XL1 parts but not all of them are. You have to weigh them to find out. The grey plastic does seem stiffer though. Do upgrade to oversized wheel bearings/RPM carriers-the over size bearings last much longer than the smaller ones! I really like the stock wheels and tires because they are low profile and lightweight for more performance than most 2.2" wheels/tires. I also got cvds. They are about $35. I had good offroad results with a 6500kv brushless with a 7 cell 4200 and top speed of 36 mph. The stock Titan 12T motor is good for 30+mph on a nice 6 cell and 35+mph on a nice 7 cell as claimed by Traxxas. You should however only run 35mph on smooth surfaces (not offroad) so you don't overwork the motor. It is a fan cooled motor but it must have mid to high rpm to do the cooling. Most people say it feels like a 15-17 turn motor which I would agree with. Camber links are a good upgrade too. There are no race adjustments like roll center, lots of shock mounts, droop, etc. This is a fixed position chassis for the most part with minimal possible adjustments. It is perfect for first timers and bashers and suits those people well out of the box. It does have a nice slipper clutch with pads that look like little brake pads from a real car. The transmission is preloaded with bearings. The shocks are smooth and easily rebuildable but mine kept blowing the plastic shock caps off on big jumps so I would either upgrade the shocks and/or the caps to metal ones if you have this problem. Most people have to leave the spoiler off if they bash alot because it keeps getting bashed off. The single body post hole in the rear of the body usually takes a beating so I would modify that with some RPM body savers. The servo is adequate. The 27mhz radio system is getting outdated but does the job. The radio is missing one feature that a lot of other RTRs have-dual rate steering. The XL5 speed control works well. Most of the parts on this chassis has been around for very long so there are enough upgrades to make your head spin!

Can any one tell me a website that has all the "hop ups" for this truck? -//- Amain does have pretty low prices. They also have great products. -//- Why would you want to hop up to oversized wheel bearings micheal fodsick -//- To all of you I agree that it iis a very nice truck. But i dont get why people complain about it. I guess they dont know a good traxxas car when they see it. Awesome truck though:)

Traxxas Rustler Stadium Truck RTR w/Waterproof XL-5 Speed Control (w/Battery & W
I got my Rustler in today. This is my first rc purchase since my six wheel scorcher when I was 10 years old. A common review for this car is that it's good for beginners. Well, I'm a beginner and it has surpassed my expectations so far. Traxxas seems to make a good product and I wasn't able to find a lower price than at a main hobbies. Thank you!
