Traxxas Spartan High Performance Race Boat RTR w/2.4Ghz Radio
Purchased one of these to review (review posted on rcspeak.com). It's definitely a nice boat, didn't run it with the lipos because of the issues I've heard about overheating but I've seen plenty of how-to's on adding extra water cooling and better pickups for the water. If you're going to run hotter packs, I'd definitely upgrade the cooling system - one thing we noticed when running the boat is the need to make sure water is flowing through the cooling system, under speed it's tough to tell if water is coming out of the port, so make a slow(ish) pass by you before you take off. Other than that, it's a great boat - fast, turns on a dime and very stable.

Traxxas Spartan High Performance Race Boat RTR w/2.4Ghz Radio
Ok if you don't already know what 6s means than don't spend $400 on a RC boat. This is an advanced level hobby. With all due respect. In fact you should be looking into Max Amps Lipos. To get the top speed out of the model. Spend big money so the boat won't get lost out on the water from cheep lipo cells. It's worth it. As for over heating well just look at the traxxas 1/16 ESC. if you run 2 stock batteries it will overheat. So it's a tuff call

Traxxas Spartan High Performance Race Boat RTR w/2.4Ghz Radio
be prepared to spend another 250 to 300 dollars on good batteries if you want to drive it at 50mph it doesnt come with 6s lipo battery set up and traxxas said they reccomend atleast using 45c discharge and 5000mah 3s lipo batteries and they each cost about 150 so your looking at about 650 to 700 dollars total including the boat and a 6s lipo set up and alot of people have been having over heating problems and esc problems having to send them back to traxxas to get fixed a guy put the reccomended 45c 5000mah 3s lipos so it was running the 6s lipo set up and if you use anymore juice it will over heat and he put a gps on the boat and it was clocked at 43mph his total cost along with yours will be 650 to 700 dollars and you get 43mph not 50 if you already have this boat and 6s lipo set up buy a prather 220 prop it will make it go 5mph faster

Traxxas Spartan High Performance Race Boat RTR w/2.4Ghz Radio
stock is 30 mph, for a boat, stock, that seems very good, im supposing that there are no heating problems stock, if i was to purchase this for my first r/c boat, i would run it stock and with my venom 2s 7.4v 20c 5000 mAh lipos, i dont think i will run 6s from what i hear is a bad idea but does it overheat on 4s? i like this boat.

Traxxas Spartan High Performance Race Boat RTR w/2.4Ghz Radio
THIS IS A NICE BOAT LOOKS GREAT BUT IT IS PLASTIC SO THERES FLEX. THE ESC DOESNT LIKE LIPOS AND IT DOES SUFFER FROM A POOR MOTOR AND CHINE WALKING AT HIGH SPEEDS. THE WAY TO MAKE THIS BOAT DO WHAT YOU HOPED IT WOULD IS TO SPEND MORE MONEY ON IT IN CHANGING WATER LINES ESC MOTOR AND MOVING THE STRUT TO MAKE IT STABLE.. OUT OF THE BOX I WOULD GIVE IT 5/10 AFTER DOING THE MOD'S I WOULD SAY 8/10. IN SHORT FOR THE ASKING PRICE THERE ARE BETTER BOATS ON THE MARKET WHICH STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BOX WILL GIVE YOU LOTS OF FUN WITH OUT ALL THE ISSUES OF WHICH THE SPARTAN SUFFERS FROM......
