I got my SR about two months ago. Have worked on it extensively since then. The tail rotor motor burned out in the first month, and I got a replacement from the local hobby shop. The pot for gain is so sensitive that I couldn't get it to settle down even with the slightest of incremental changes. I got an after market belt drive tail rotor from freestyle hobby, and that helped a lot. It flies straight and smooth now. Eflite should have made this heli a belt drive from the beginning of the design. That tail motor is nothing but a failure looking for a place to happen. I also replaced the cheap main rotor blades with some high durabiliy blades I got off of ebay for $8. They hold up to the shocks and bumps of beginner flight way better than the stock ones that are $12. I also replaced the narrow and cheaply made landing gear with the landing gear from a 400. It has a much more stable landing platform now, and the 400 landing gear is far more durable for hard landings. All in all, I'd say this little heli is good for learning, because it is light and fairly agile. The transmitter is compatible with the Phoenix Flight Simulator and needs no adapter. But it's a real money pit , if you crash much. Then you're back to square one adjusting all the linkage and replacing the parts to get you back flying, until you crash again.

Update to my previous review. A no-hassle contact to the E-Flite customer service. I received my tail motor free of charge. After the facile installation, my Blade SR flies good as new. A 5 minute phone conversation and 15 minutes of wrenching. No harm, no foul... -//- I would characterize myself as an intermediate pilot with experience with Blade CXs, Blade mSR, and an Align 250. I picked one of these up a couple days ago as a docile outdoor companion.
I've been hovering the SR in my 20x12 foot basement due to rain and cold weather. It was stable in hover with minimal trim. Some tail wag was present and was planning on adjusting the gain.
5 flights in with about 25 minutes of airtime. The tail rotor began to go. I notice uncorrectable counter-clockwise tail spin and immediately landed the helicopter. Luckily, no crash. I read about other pilots with "tail motor burnout". Some with loss of control, crashes, and damage.
So, the SR's level of components are a good bang for the buck. However, the tail motor quality is suspect. If it wasn't for the ail motor failure or failures, I would rate the SR a 4/5 to 5/5.
But... My final rating is...

Well I fell into the trap. this is the BIGGEST POS out there stay the heck away from it. the tail stinks the electronics are just as bad I'd sell the thing off but I would feel bad selling this JUNK to anyone. even my worst enemies..
I bought a 450 align... now that is a bird. flies nice handles better.
Bottom line DONT BUY AN SR unless you want to torture yourself.

Blade SR Electric Micro Helicopter (RTF)
Ok i am new to this hobby and jumped into this blade SR a bit to fast.But i do have a blade mcx2 and a blade msr x. The blade msr X is a WILD bird! I ended up ordering a Spektrum ds6i and it definately flys better but it's still not easy. It keeps you very busy on the sticks even with the best programming in the TX. I have gotten to where i can hover and fly it fast and do pretty much anything with it even in a 5 mph wind easily. Now to the Blade SR... This heli is very unpredictable and to say the least CHEAP when quality to price is concerned.The stock Swash will come apart soon, so you will need to buy the CNC aluminum swash for sure. The tail motor design they have used is not good at all. The Tail boom is aluminum and one tail strike to the ground and you will be needing to order the carbon fiber tail boom. The main rotors are wood with a white plastic wrap around them...So carbon fiber would be a good upgrade choice.. More Money.. I truly believe you would be better with a Blade 450 than this SR the bigger the bird the more stable. Bottom line if your going to go with a Collective Pitch do your HOMEWORK. The Blade msr x is a great heli to give you an idea of how finicky a heli can be! Get the msr x down and then possibly order a Larger scale 4 channel single blade heli so you can get use to the intimidation of a larger heli in your control.I have Realflight 6 and its nothing compared to flying outside in real life. It is a great Simulator to get you accustomed to the controls but when you do it in real life its a different hobby all together.

have had the blade sr for 2 months now, 2nd heil, a upgrade from cx2
have had to rebuild from many crashes. it seems to fly nice from what my limited experience is.
the tail motor SUCKS! i have gone through 4 already. the sr started acting weird the other day, had to set it down hard, bent feathering shaft so had to rebuild the head again. turns out it was the tail motor going out and what was happening was that the motor was stuck "on" making it go in circles. another tail motor and now it hovers perfect.
eflight tech has been stellar although the parts are very expensive. a main hobbies has been the best place for to buy replacement parts as i live in ca and they ship fast

I made the mistake of trying to learn with this heli, if you're looking for your first collective pitch heli this isn't a good choice. I didn't have the tail motor problems that others have, but I can tell you that this bird is not at all crash tolerant. There are much better choices to take the next step from coaxial (mcpx, nano cp) but if you want something a little bigger that won't break the bank and can test your skills after you've tamed a smaller collective pitch heli this would be a good choice. If you can afford it, you might want to forgo this size and opt for a 450 class heli (again after taming a smaller cp heli). Though, this would be a better size as a park flyer.

Blade SR Electric Micro Helicopter (RTF)
I recently purchased a Blade SR as my first collective pitch heli after getting used to a co-axial toy. I crashed the 8500 numerous times and replaced parts constantly, I must have gone thru 4 sets of blades, anyway back to the SR the price is good but it is extremely hard to get under control. The tail wags constantly and even after numerous tweaking it still doesnt stay smooth. I read about upgrading to a belt drive tail, but shouldnt have to go that route fresh out of the box. My first time out had the optional training kit on that I highly recommend to save on parts, lifting it up about 2 feet off the ground a breeze flipped it over and broke the plastic frame in half.
Parts are cheap, the whole main frame was less than 7 bucks. and the main gear was 4. Seriously considering a flight simulator first before I take it out again. Watched a couple very informative videos on you tube from some guy named crazyhelidude that really taught me allot
not knowing anything about collective pitch helis. Worth taking a look if your fresh to this as I am.
Parts are cheap, the whole main frame was less than 7 bucks. and the main gear was 4. Seriously considering a flight simulator first before I take it out again. Watched a couple very informative videos on you tube from some guy named crazyhelidude that really taught me allot
