Each February, hundreds of rock racers compete in a 165-mile-long race through Johnson Valley in California's Mojave Desert. Many call it the toughest off-road race on the planet. Thousands of fans are watching. Adrenaline is pumping. Two trails in the race, the Jackhammer and the Sledgehammer, are the most difficult. They're known as the Twin Hammers-the place where legends are made.

No longer do you have to choose between a 1.9 crawler and an off-road buggy. With the Twin Hammers™ rock racer, you get the best of both worlds in one bone-crushing vehicle. Easily handle anything you come up against, from jagged rocks to extreme jumps. Just shift the two-speed transmission on the fly and you're good to go. Your next adventure is waiting. And it starts with the Twin Hammers.

In-Depth Features:

  • 4-Link Suspension: A single solid axle with rear shocks mounted on the trailing arms gives the Twin Hammers rock racer a scale look that is simply unmatched in RC. It also lets you crawl or go on high-speed runs when you want, where you want.
  • Brushless Ready Drive Train: Go from crawling to high speeds at the push of a button without stopping. You can easily shift the two-speed gearbox into low range to tackle treacherous rocks and then shift into high range to blast across rough terrain. The control is yours.
  • Waterproof* Electronics: Includes watertight, sealed electronics that let you drive anytime, anywhere. Snow, rain and mud - this truck can handle it all. (For complete details on waterproof standards, please refer to the product instruction manual)
  • Scale Lights, Cockpit & Body Panels: Talk about realism. The Twin Hammers rock racer has a multi-piece body kit, an extensive roll-cage design, a spare tire on the back and an authentic-looking cockpit area.
  • Beadlock Wheels & Tires: Tackle the terrain in style. The Twin Hammers rock racer comes with five fully-functional, realistic scale wheels and tires that look just like those on full-size trucks.

Vaterra Twin Hammers 1/10 4WD RTR Electric Rock Racer w/DX3e 2.4GHz, Battery & Charger
This is an awesome trail truck. I did have a couple issues with the truck. First of which, just getting into the thing was, not difficult, just time consuming. The small head screws didn't really help. Second, the low clearance was a little annoying, so it couldn't make it over as rough of terrain as, say, and Axial Wraith. The servo is fairly slow, but that's to be expected from an rtr. Chief among which, the shifting servo. I replaced it twice. Due to factory trims, both servos burned out. I troubleshooted this problem and after getting a third servo, I calibrated it properly and the drivetrain was much better. But why am I dissing on this truck? It's an amazing piece of innovation. Just the idea of the truck is fantastic. The 2-speed tranny works great, and the driveline is definitely brushless capable. I had a Dynamite 6800kv combo just for fun. It didn't even break a sweat, but it did break some parts. That was my fault, not the truck's. It had a pretty gnarly nosedive and broke the front diff housing, bent the front suspension pins, and broke an A-arm. That was still my fault. The brushed system was actually surprisingly quick for what it is. And it's all waterproof, I can't reasonably ask for more, except maybe a faster servo, but that's besides the point. The durability is excellent if you don't drive it like I did. It's a little expensive, but I think it's worth it.

Vaterra Twin Hammers 1/10 4WD RTR Electric Rock Racer w/DX3e 2.4GHz, Battery & Charger
Part two.
Figured out the problem of the pro shaft popping out. I did the Blue monkey racing front shock conversion, DO NOT use a 85mm shock. It allows the front A-arm to go to far on the down stroke and allows it to pop out. USE a 80-75mm shock and you will not have this trouble. I love the Twin Hammers, this little buggy rocks. I cant believe how it handles. Way cool RC.

Vaterra Twin Hammers 1/10 4WD RTR Electric Rock Racer w/DX3e 2.4GHz, Battery & Charger
Pretty sweet. Motor and steering servo broke after one month. Put in traxxas velineon brushless system, with a savox servo. Now this thing rips. Everything else is awesome, might be my favorite rc. It's like a short corse truck, rock crawler, racer, scale, go anywhere beast.
