2009 ROAR National Champion! Ryan Maifield took TQ honors in all FOUR rounds of qualifying with the RC8T truck at the 2009 ROAR National championship, and then backed it up with a solid win in the 45 minute A Main event!
Team Associated is proud to bring to you the Factory Team RC8T, a 1:8th scale full-blown racing truggy based on the successful RC8 platform! Like the Factory Team RC8 buggy before it, the highly anticipated RC8T will raise the performance bar for 1:8th nitro truggies.
Strength, durability, maximum corner speeds and rough track handling were the key design elements Area 51 worked into the RC8T. Drivers will experience unparalleled and effortless “pop” as they launch from the jumps. Landings will be plush beyond belief due to the enhanced suspension that other truggies can only dream of.
From the correctly balanced and optimized weight distribution, silky smooth and reliable ‘Big Bore’ shocks featuring 4mm gold shafts, innovative clutch design, to the machined chassis, every inch of the RC8T screams high performance and durability. There will be no question to why the Factory Team RC8T will be the truggy of choice at the highest levels of competition.

And since this IS a review form for the RC8T, I'll throw in my 2 cents. A friend of mine let me drive his, which was fitted with the Associated electric conversion, Mamba Monster 2200 system and a 6S LiPo. He had it fitted with LPR Bow-Tie tires in M2 compound, driving on our average dirt track on a rare day when it was damp. His setup was stock, I assume, as he never raced the truck. The truck drove so smoothly and predictably; I really enjoyed driving it, as I knew I would. I like an RC car to have a ton of steering, on- and off-power (off especially), and to really rotate like a top in as tight a radius as possible. His steered brilliantly through all parts of the turn, especially turn-in. Stability was also excellent and confidence-inspiring. The truck felt planted at all times, and the terrific RC8 suspension gave it a smooth, plush ride. I've driven the Losi 8ight-T 2.0 and the Mugen MBX6T, and I hold them in high regards as well. Both of them handle outstandingly well, and I'd even go so far as to say the MBX6T is the best damn truggy on the market right now. But it's the total package that makes me choose the Associated over both of those. The Losi is too expensive and gets sloppy too quickly, and I don't like the Mugen's pivot-ball suspension and how crammed together everything is on the chassis. And I now own an RC8 first-gen buggy, converted to brushless with a Tekno V3 kit. So I can tell you with certainty, the way Associated designs their cars, and how they perform, is #1 in my book. The RC8T is at the top of my truggy wish list.
Far better quality than the 8ight t 2.0. The guys at my track are having problems with the losi clutches and bearings after 1-2 club races??? Also the losi truggy comes pre-built? I guess thats okay for a rtr or basher, but not for serious race competition.
I was curious on how the rc8t wins almost every major race, when i bought it and raced it, I wasn't curious any more.
The kit went together smoothly and I liked how the turnbuckles and shocks are assembled already.
Two thumbs up team associated!!!
I've run 18 race meets with mine, (LRP .28 and OS VZB, depending on track) on both clay and grass, with many podium finishes and so far haven't broken a thing.
The plastic is soft but doesn't affect handling and I'm willing to replace the arms every 6 months or so to keep them tight.
It handles really well out of the box, although I use 3000 in the rear instead of 7000, but I will admit could use some more adjustability for the upper rear links.
All up I have four with 2 running brushless and quite frankly the only truggy that'll compete with it is the Losi 8T 2.0
The only thing I have trouble with is the servo saver loosens itself but if thats its only issue then I'll live.
People dont be afraid to buy one, they are awesome.
The truck has been great; I haven’t broken a single thing! It’s very smooth and handles the BL setup well “MMM/1600KV 5s”.
One complaint I have is the steering servo needs a long horn if you want full steering. Even the plastic one that comes with the kit is not enough.
Also I spent a lot of $$$$$ getting this plus a conversion kit, only for associated to put out a e-version a month later lol.
