The RTR Savage X 4.6 is the fastest and strongest ready-to-run Savage… EVER! That's right, we've raised the bar by adding a massive F4.6 engine and beefed up the chassis and drivetrain to handle the power. The result is a truck that has enough Big Block power to do wheelies on command with a scorching top speed of more than 45 MPH. A huge list of performance and durability upgrades come standard in the RTR Savage X 4.6, so you know that you've got a truck that can handle extreme off-road driving.

New Option Parts Included As Standard!
Included with the Savage X 4.6 are two of the latest option parts: Alloy Diff Cases and new stronger brake disks! The Alloy Diff Cases prevent damage to the internal diff gears, even with the power of a Big Block engine. The result is more driving and less maintenance! New dual disk brakes provide more stopping power and are more fade-resistant than ever!

Savage X 4.6 Durability
Eight long coil-over shocks absorb any type of rough terrain you can throw at the RTR Savage X 4.6, and beefy suspension arms and uprights can take the punishment of big-air drops and top speed runs over bumpy terrain. Keeping everything protected is the reinforced "X" TVP chassis, which features a custom 'X' graphic. Structural webbing and extra screws have been added to the central gearbox to improve durability, and add stiffness. Extra material was added to the skid plates and bumper to help the Savage X 4.6 survive huge jumps and crashes. The engine mount and engine plate are now thicker to give you more durability and endurance, especially when you're landing massive jumps!

Savage X 4.6 Speed
The new F4.6 powerplant is designed for one thing and one thing only - huge amounts of horsepower! Nearly 3hp, in fact! Enough horsepower to get the Savage X 4.6 up to 45mph (73kph)! And Big Block TORQUE is always on tap, just pull the throttle and you'll know you're not driving a small block. You want speed? You want torque? You've got it!

The F4.6 engine is a new HPI high-power unit with the proven HPI Nitro Star reliability, featuring 2.9hp from its .28 cubic inch displacement! A purple anodized machined aluminum cooling head keeps the engine cool. Rough off-road terrain and extreme stunts are not a problem with this engine! The F4.6 features true ABC construction (Aluminum piston, Chrome-plated Brass sleeve), 8 port tuning, a 7.5mm composite carburetor, heavy duty triple shoe clutch, plus an updated Roto Start 2 electronic starting system for easy starting. A dual-stage air filter protects the F4.6 from dust and dirt kicked up by the 4WD action!

The F4.6 engine is so fast, in fact, that HPI designers made significant improvements to the chassis, gear cases and other parts of the truck to beef it up so it could handle the extra power! The F4.6 engine pumps out nearly 3 horsepower and sits on an improved engine mount and thicker engine plate to give you more durability and endurance, especially when you're landing massive jumps!

Drivetrain
Our designers wanted to make sure the Savage X 4.6 drivetrain could handle the extra power of the Nitro Star F4.6. The Savage drivetrain features a permanent 4WD system and spins on rubber-sealed ball bearings, plus it features an adjustable 2 speed transmission. To add extra strength, aluminum alloy diff cases are now standard on the front and rear differentials, pre-installed and shimmed to extend the maintenance interval of the HPI 4-gear differential. The 17T clutch bell has been modified so it engages the spur gear with extra consistency. A steel spacer is used on the clutch bell, which provides more durability than the brass spacer. The adjustable slipper clutch features a slipper pad made from a more durable material, so there's less maintenance and more driving! Finally, to make sure you can stop this beast as quickly, the Savage X 4.6 is equipped with a new twin vented disk brake made from heat-resistant fiber material to give you more stopping power!

Easy Starting
The RTR Savage X 4.6 includes a Roto Start 2 starting system to get you up and running with minimal effort! To start your engine simply insert the Roto Start into the engine's back plate, press the trigger and away you go!

The Roto Start 2 features an engine save mechanism that protects the engine. The protection mechanism acts like a fuse. If an overload is caused by a flooded engine the fuse button will pop out and stop the Roto Start. After clearing out the flooded engine (as shown in the instruction manual) you simply push the fuse button back in and start the engine as normal.

RTR - Performance straight from the box!
HPI makes it as easy as possible for beginners to get into Nitro RC cars. The RTR Savage X 4.6 it is completely pre-built and ready to go right out of the box! Everything is assembled and tuned for you by professionals - diffs, slipper clutch, shocks and more are perfect before you even open the kit and with all the top Savage X options already installed, you don't have to do a thing to get going fast!

HPI 1/8 Savage X 4.6 Big Block RTR Monster Truck
One hell of an MONSTER truck.....i would only recommend the alum. big bore shocks as an upgrade as the stock shocks are prone to leaks. Ive bashed with my friend who owns a revo and this truck almost seems overpowered. great work of art..love it to death

HPI 1/8 Savage X 4.6 Big Block RTR Monster Truck
YO IVE HAD THE 4.6 FOR LITTLE OVER A YEAR NOW AND LOVE THE TRUCK BUT RECENTLY GOT A LITTLE BORED WITH IT STOCK SO I GOT THE FLUX CONVERSION WITH A TEKIN 2500KV SPENT SIX AND A HALF HOURS BUILDING IT AND BEFORE I WAS DONE I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO REGRET DOING IT BUT WHEN I PUT THE 22.2VOLTS IN IT AND HIT THE TRIGGER THE TRUCK DID A STANDING BACK FLIP REACHING SPEEDS OVER 60 MPH SO IF YOU GUYS WANT REAL FUN I SUGGEST CONVERTING IT TO BRUSHLESS AND STILL GET 30 MINUTES RUN TIME AND I GUARANTEE YOU WILL NEVER WANT TO GO BACK TO NITRO

HPI 1/8 Savage X 4.6 Big Block RTR Monster Truck
This is the best Savage yet. The Savage .21 was underpowered and both the .21 and .25 were a pain to work on. You almost had to tear the whole thing apart to fix anything. My Savy X4.6 has been the answer to everything. Built like a brick, easy and cheap to maintain, and little to no down time. Just fill it up and drive. The only things I have changed are the radio to a DX3E (2.4Ghz, failsafe, antenna is below body), HPI battery indicator with Orian 1600 Hump Pack, HPI motor stop, aluminum clutch shoes, and Hitec 645MG steering servo. These were all personal preferance and didn't have to be done. After 8 months of bashing I have only replaced spur gears, two bevel gears and a fuel tank (really bad landing off a 20' jump). I love this truck!

HPI 1/8 Savage X 4.6 Big Block RTR Monster Truck
Received my Savage 4.6 on Friday... Ran 4 tanks of fuel through her to get her broke in per the instructions... WHAT AN AWESOME MACHINE!!!!!..... I grew up in the days of crappy NiCad buggies... finally grew up and able to afford one of these babies. I did the research for weeks.. Finally decided on the 4.6 over the Traxxas 3.3..... Over the weekend I ran her through, mud, water, snow.....and slammed into a telephone pole at full speed (it will get away from you once you adjust to run lean). I have her set to run at about 220F... book says not to go over 250. Starts every time..... I am in LOVE!!!.... Today I orderedd the kids a E-Revo.... so they can keep their hands off my Savage. 6 year old LOVES it!!!.... A-Main delivered within two days. Excellent all the way around.... This truck is truley industructible!!!!! I fly Nitro Planes so I am running 15% Nitro.... a little Rich, but I would rather see smoke than buy a new Engine!! Buy this, you will not be displeased.... Yard Basher King. Lands better than some of my planes....hahaha.

HPI 1/8 Savage X 4.6 Big Block RTR Monster Truck
This truck is bash ready out of the box. I had it for years before giving it up to make room for newer vehicles. The motor has gobs of power if broken in corrctly but leaks oil a bit. the chassis itself is amazingly strong too. The only thing that gave me issues was the gas tank. Since it sits outside of the chassis it tends to break if you land harshly enough. Ive been through countless gas tanks on this truck. Also had an issue of stripping spur gears on this quite often. Wasnt gear mesh either, who knows at this point but other than taht this truck was a lot of fun. Brake adjustment was easy, the motor was an absolute animal too. With the right gearing this this is real fast and may even come up in secong gear lol.

Dont be afraid to buy this truck you will enjoy it. Give it all you got, it likes abuse.

http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/products_id/147172/n/Hi-Energy-6-Cell-72V-NiMH-High-Voltage-Battery-Pack-3300mAh
Anything 7.2volts with a tamiya plug will be fine.
For you reciever and transmitter you can run AA batteries, but it is better to run a 6v hump battery in your car as it gives more volts (The XL comes with one of these). A standard glow warmer will work but this one will be graet as it will last for ages.
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/cPath/1_23_110/products_id/34895/n/Trinity-Enduro-Glo-Ignitor-with-4600mAh-Battery

And you still need a charger for all of those. -//- What you are going to need is a 7.2volt nimh battery for the roto start, glowplug warmer and some batteries for the car and reciever. From what people say the XL is better then the 4.6.

HPI 1/8 Savage X 4.6 Big Block RTR Monster Truck
HPI definitely broke the mold with this truck, I've ran almost a gallon of fuel through it and have not had any problems with it at all. It is the bash king of nitro monster trucks hands down. And A Main Hobbies is the only place to shop for R/C goodies.

HPI 1/8 Savage X 4.6 Big Block RTR Monster Truck
Best Truck ever! Traxxas are ok and good for beginners but if you want a basher get Hpi savage!!! Of course, with my bad luck i got a dud. (bad receiver). But I sent it to Hpi an they replaced it for free. Ive had very minor issues but i bash hardish. Only thing i broke after countless tumbles and spills is a little crack in susp. arm!!!!!!! Great truck newbies if you want one!!!

HPI 1/8 Savage X 4.6 Big Block RTR Monster Truck
Decent truck not the best the lst2 is alot better all the way around.
But for the price its good if you bash hard like me its easy to bend the shock shafts and break dog bones. And dont waste your money on the reverse module I bought 3 and every one of them came out within 10 minutes of driving easy. But is still way better than the t-maxx. but with certain hop ups can be a good truck. Also watch out for the diffs prone to come apart under hard driving. The engine is great though lots of power and hold a tune pretty good. maybe the ss kit is alot better but there is always flaws in any rtr truck. But still cannot wait for the new savage XL 5.9. also ditch the radio as soon as possible. Or just buy a LST 2 thats just my opinion though

HPI 1/8 Savage X 4.6 Big Block RTR Monster Truck
Just bought my second 4.6 from Amain. This is the true BASH rig. Easy maintanence if thigs break or diffs need rebuilt. GET ONE. -//- Traxxas ( what a joke ) Years ago everyone said " Buy a Traxxas, their the best. How could so many be so wrong. The savage eats all the competition right out of the box. You don't have to drop a dime on this truck until you break a part from 15 foot airs. Even then I've only broke two dog bones and one A-arm in two months. I couldn't even come close to that with the T-maxx. Everything breaks on the Maxx and doesn't hold a tune either. Save yourself some money and buy a REAL basher, not unless your gonna throw $500 or more into a Maxx to make it look cool.

HPI 1/8 Savage X 4.6 Big Block RTR Monster Truck
hey guys ive owned a savage25 for 4 years now and besides normal wear items ive only broke 2 lower arms and 3 castor blocks mainly from jumping it 10feet high and landing on blacktop! once i was running it through tall grass and hit a 4 inch vollyball anchor post and broke the lower front arm clean off the left front and was hanging by the steering linkage
also the savage is 1 of very few cars and trucks that you could build from nothing but aftermarket parts !!!
r/c car action magazine buyer guide from 2005 made a savage 25 $$3,800.00 out of aftermarket parts!!

all in all there isnt a better monster truck on the market for backyard BASHING,,,, so go ahead and make YOUR day!

HPI 1/8 Savage X 4.6 Big Block RTR Monster Truck
I also put on the stainless steel brake kit.The truck stops on a dime. now. -//- Update on Savage 4.6.Engine came back from hpi with new starter spring and pin,it runs great.I recommend a better servo after 5 tanks the stock one went out ,stripped gears. You can get a up grade for the stock one $30 but the turning speed will not be good enough.I bought a Ace ds1313 and its night and day compaired to stock.I upgraded the transmission to a three speed but it was really overkill, unless you have alot of room to get up to speed. You can play with the number of teeth on the clutch bell gear or spur gear and get probilly the same speed out of the truck.I changed my spur gear to a steel gear from robinson and heavyduty clutch bell it usually comes as a pair.I changed out the shock oil for 20 grade shock oil and filled 3/4 of the way up in each shock it seemed to have helped the truck not be as jumpy from loading up after compression. The truck is alot stabler but im going to mess with it some more by adding less oil or more of different grades. You will probilly need a wheelie bar as well depending on ground condition and how well tuned your engine is this truck will do alot of wheelies.I have been doing this for 28 years and this is the best rc toy I have owned yet but be prepared to spend a couple of hundred more to get the bugs out and have a bullet proof truck. -//- Car is great with new racers edge engine.Had to adjust the brake and tune the engine The truck is amazingly fast and handles good.I hope to get a new engine from hpi soon. -//- I have mixed feelings so far.Started break in.After 1 1/2 tankes the engine makes a loud noise and will not start.I am sendind it back to hpi and hope they will give me a new engine.I have recently bought a new engine a racers edge sure fire and will give it a shot until I know more about the hpi engine.
