The Factory Team B44 project came to life in 2003 as a cooperative effort between Team Associated and J Concepts’ Jason Ruona and Brad Reelfs. After Team Associated’s Ryan Cavalieri won the 2005 IFMAR World Championships in Collegno, Italy with the BJ4 Worlds Edition, Area 51 shifted into overdrive to produce a true 'Associated' inspired 4WD buggy that would continue to dominate the 4WD off road racing class. The B44 is the result of this two-year development effort.

During the design and development stages Associated used their extensive and well-proven skills to make a 4WD competition buggy that is better suited to production. The results of this optimization are realized by you, the customer, in a more cost-effective vehicle with more readily available spare parts.

The B44 is built on a 2.5mm woven carbon fiber main chassis and top plate. What’s new is the composite front bulkhead and rear chassis plate. These new features greatly improve overall durability and increase the ground clearance, further enhancing the B44's performance.

Area 51 designers also improved the BJ4’s slipper clutch. The result is the B44’s new externally adjustable, dual pad slipper clutch, which transfers power to the ground more efficiently and effectively.

The B44 employs a hardened steel CVA drivetrain with lightened ball differentials for unparalleled acceleration. The B44 soaks up the bumps using Factory Team hard anodized aluminum threaded shocks with gold shock shafts. The shocks mount to durable 3mm woven carbon fiber shock towers, making the B44 more responsive and giving quicker handling.

The B44 gets the full Factory Team treatment with blue titanium turnbuckles, blue aluminum shock bushings and blue aluminum servo mounts for a car that looks as good as it is fast!

Many Team Associated fans from all over the world have asked us when we are going to build a 4WD buggy. Team Associated is proud to say that day has come with the B44, the only 4WD electric race buggy that comes from a racing heritage with 20 IFMAR World Championships behind it.

Team Associated B44 Factory Team 4WD Buggy Kit
This was my second 1/10 electric buggy. I am a newbie to R/C and this kit was just fine for me in terms of assembling and maintaining. You just have pay more attention to details and have a little bit of patients. When you first look at the instructions it may seem very simple (some are) and want to get everything assembled in the speed of light, but for some parts you would need to spend a little more time to assemble the way you need to (i.e. Differential) - it doesn't take an expert to figure out everything about this kit and to set it up, hell I didn't even know what pinion to use (what does "pitch" mean??). If you are really stuck you can always use the forums or ur LHS people for help, for me I was able to get through everything myself and I am no expert (though I did search on the internet about pinions :) ). And btw, don't over tighten screws!! It's been more than 1.5 yrs since I have this kit and I tell you this is my favorite 1/10 buggy. In terms of parts availability, upgrades, handling, ease of use of parts....everything is just 10/10. Again I'm a noob, if I can take on this kit, I am sure anyone can. Here is my B44 on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gD2TsEcj1QM

Incredible 4wd buggy. Fit and Finish are unbeliveable, parts are in seperate little labled bags and the directions are drawn our very clearly and can be fully understood even if you are not able read.

Parts are hard to come by, but it is new and they will be available soon enough. The shocks, and diff's are typical associated, which is good if you have any associated knowledge.

Highly recomend this buggy to anyone who wants a car with ultimate fit and finish, that handles and drives incredible, and is just plain bad a$$.

This was my first real kit, and I was excited to build it. It went together very easily, and all the parts fit like they should. I would recomend a set of hex drivers, but the tools included will work. I'm waiting on my motor system to arrive, so I havent ran it yet. Going with a tekin rs 7.5t. I plan on club racing it this year, this is my first buggy so it should be fun.

I have really enjoyed my B44. The kit is very high quality. It drives and jumps very well. My only headache with the car is that it is very easy to break front A-arms. I have broken maybe 10 arms in 3 years of racing. This problem was really reduced once I became a smoother driver, especially landing jumps.

I agree with the other reviewers about the quality of the finished product. It runs smooth and sounds like a real quality buggy! I also agree with those that indicated that the directions were less than perfect. I found them to be quite confusing! Some of the problem is that this was only my second kit, the first one being an HPI Cyber 10B which I thought was much less confusing and more enjoyable to assemble. I have since built an Axial Scorpion which was also fun to build. I would not recommend some with little kit experience to think twice about this kit unless you have some more experienced to advise you. If you do get it built properly you will have a real nice buggy.

I dont think any buggy can beat the B44 for $220. The build was fairly easy and the finished product is the same high quality as my B4.1. The main issue i had was jamming all the wires in and fitting the body and i also didnt buy a LI-PO battery tray so my 4600 lipo's dont fit ATM. I fitted this buggy with a Reedy 3300kv set up that was in my B4.1 and it is no where near enough power for the chassis. I havnt driven any other modern 4WD buggys so i cant compare the handling to anything other then my B4.1 and the B44 feels like a F1 in comparison.

Love this car. Love 4wd tenth buggies. Just wish folks in the area would bring their 4wd's out on race day so we could have a class. After driving a xx4 for 10 years I didn't think anything could touch it. This is about the closest you're gonna get.

great buggy, wonderful to come with proline tires, everything is perfect, some parts of directions can be partly confusing, but you come to realize correct from wrong

great to handle on track, after 2 hours of practicing on the track, i already placed 8th of 12, not bad with some great drivers at my track which includes owner of Jconcepts, and yes there are plenty of parts now

the car totally kicks butt!!!!!! it drives awesome!!!! for a 4wd car it is very easy to work on. the only real problem that i have, is parts support is absolutely horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! team associated really needs to address this before people stop buying their products & start buying other people's stuff. its bad enough that they cant meet a release date for a new kit if their lives depended on it, but to release late & not release parts in a timely manner is ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!! it seems to me that the joining up with thunder tiger has not been good at all for associated's buying public!!!!!! hopefully they will get on the ball soon!!!!!
