Team Associated RC8e 4WD Electric Buggy Kit
Diff oil I use: 7f,5c,3r. Shock oil 35F,30r. Zippy 5000 35-40c batts are too wide to fit under the body (batteries strap in vertically). SMC 5000 20c and True rc 6400 15-20c do fit though. You can mount sc8 shock towers, body mounts, front/rear bumpers, and a proline slayer hardcore body on it to give clearance for any batteries you choose and also convert it into a 1/10 size SC. Dont use a slash body because its narrower width doesnt cover the wheels as well. Mount the SC body as low as possible though because wind gets caught under sc bodies easily on jumps causing a parachute effect (it might help to put holes in the body to allow air to escape). If you use castle conversion kit body posts you can extend the buggy body to allow clearance for larger batteries but their will be a gap in the side guards. With the same 2650 motor setup I think my electric 8ightb jumps higher/further/smoother/easier, jumps with less effort, and is more forgiving all around but my rc8e corners better, and drives more precisely like on rails. It took a lot more chassis/motor/esc tuning to get my rc8 tuned to the track than it did my 8ightb. I have the rc8e, rc8te, and sc8e along with a castle 8ightBe and castle 8ightTe. I have had several other 1/8 Es in the past so I have others to compare to. Castle recommends the 2650 over the 2200 for buggies and I would agree. Check out my review on the 2650 system for tips. This was a good value for the year or so its been on the market as the 8ighte has kinda been the only offering (and the 8ighte is way over priced, has a plagued motor mount, and comes with a just ok ESC). However the ebuggy market is going to explode in 2010 (the new models are already appearing and some of them are RTR) and there will be more choices and better prices so this kit needs to come down in price if its going to compete. This kit doesnt even include tires! Shocks are too laid down but can be stood up with purchase of the just released new rc8b shock towers. The shock bodies are plastic. Losi also has the smart diff option for the 1.0 and 2.0 but Associated doesnt have one yet. Ebuggies can be built to the same weight as their nitro counter parts IF using the current 5000 mah lipo batts. Batts much above that usually make the car weigh a little more than the nitro counterparts but still can be setup to perform well. I get 15+ minutes on the track with 5000 4s 35-40c lipos. Additional tuning (ESC, diffs, motor, etc) could yield more run time. By buying new and used parts or by using coupons you can now buy an RTR 1/8 ebuggy for less than $450 or build a very nice RTR racer for less than $600 (including motor sytem, servos, and 2.4)!!! Expect prices to get cheaper in 2010. Add to that lipos which are also dropping in price.

Team Associated RC8e 4WD Electric Buggy Kit
This buggy here is a straight forward no nonsense racer. At my track these kits reign supreme, maybe a losi every now and then. Associated over the years has been know for top of the line racers, excellent craftsmanship and race winning kits. My best bud is a die hard losi guy and to his efforts he cant come close to my RC8. I know its like ford vs Chevy, burger king vs McDonald's, but for the price you cant go wrong compared to losi's extreme overpricing. Join the winners circle today!
