This is the Traxxas Platinum Edition Slash 4X4 Brushless 1/10th 4WD Short Course Truck. Already one of the most eagerly anticipated Traxxas vehicles ever, the new Slash 4X4 is now available in Platinum Edition trim! This factory-works race truck checks nearly every box on the Slash 4X4 option sheet to deliver the ultimate in short-course racing performance, and leaves the choice of radio gear and battery to the user! Slash 4X4 Platinum Edition also includes a clear body so racers can apply their own signature style. In addition to all the standard Slash 4X4 features, the Platinum Edition includes hard-anodized aluminum Big Bore™ shocks with titanium nitride shafts; blue-anodized aluminum C-hubs, steering blocks, rear hub carriers, and axle nuts; front and rear swaybars in two thicknesses; soft S1-compound BFGoodrich® Mud-Terrain™ T/A® tires; and a sealed, silicone-filled center differential that can be installed in place of the standard Revo®-spec slipper clutch. I bought the 4x4 platinum, downloaded the Steve Slayden recommended setup sheet, and started racing. I thought it was a great truck. I had a little too much oversteer that i could not seem to get rid of. I tried everything with weight distribution, shock oils, sway bars, diffs, etc. Anyway, shortly thereafter i start hearing rave reviews on the Jammin SCRT10 and that it was winning races across the country. I like the buggy-type layout of the Jammin so i sold the slash and bought the Jammin SCRT10. All i can say is, alhtough the jammin is a nice truck i like my Slash much better. It raced better, was stronger, and handled better. I have spent the last couple weeks really trying to get my Jammin dialed in and its still a great truck but overall i give the Jammin a 9 and the Slash a 10!

Just got this truck Saturday and love it. Problem is, the alum. carriers dont give and cause the axles to break on hard hits - now waiting on new axles. I might put the plastic carriers that come with it on so next time they break before the axles do (they are cheaper and easier to get anyways). Mother of god this thing is fast!

I bought one of these when they first came out and have had no major issues with it, I mean I drive it hard too. Like some other guy said the body is thin but has held up to my abuse pretty well. I've had no issues with screws backing out during a race, a good long 2-3 hours of bashing and a couple have gotten loose, but just tighten and go again. Only broke a couple of axles, but like I said, I abuse the heck out of it. Traxxas did a good job with this model. The only thing I would of liked was a slightly bigger motor, something to handle the weight of the truck, it's not a 1/10th scale by most standards, the motor does well but not for long bashing sessions, or longer track runs. Motor size not being a big thing, Traxxas keep up the good work on Entry Level R/C Cars and trucks.

Love the new 4x4 slash plati,spent heaps on my old 2wd to got more out of it 4x4 blitz's old straight from the box.Megga im well stoked thanks Traxxas and A main, tops service to an Aussie RC freak.Only prob with new slash so far is the open front main drive shaft,lets the small rocks in on our awsomely gritty track.Other than that its a trick bitta gear and looks tough with the proline hardcore body.Yeah dribblin on ,reveiws suck anyway find out for ya self hehe.

I've had this truck for a while now, and it's very good for what it's made for. It seems to be appealing to the basher more than the racer by the looks, but it's still a formidable truck out there. It's very rugged in design however there are a few little things that bugged me enough to sell mine. The center of gravity on this truck causes it to roll more often in tight turns. Screws (around the A arms) do back out even after putting locktight. And the plastic socket dogbones get very stiff if not constantly maintained. And since the chassis is much higher than the diffs: if you ever high center a jump you will end up upside down or doing a flip rather than skidding off like most other flat chassis out there.

Again, a very good truck. Not as good of a racer.

Update: Areas in need of attention: motor, motor mount, body, tires. I like others had a problem with the center diff bearings seizing, wobbling, stipping the spur, and melting the center diff case. Since I have bought the aluminum rear motor mount the problem has went away. Time will tell if that fixes it. I also called Traxxas about the problem and they helped me out greatly. There customer service was very good. New tires greatly improved traction. The body is very thin so Ive reinforced it with dry wall tape and shoe goo for now. I put in a 8L 5mm shaft 3201kv motor to buy some runtime and keep it a tick cooler. The L stands for long can/rotor which has more TQ than a standard 540. It fits with no mods and you can leave the ESC in its stock location. The motor still gets hot but not as fast. I may try the 9L 2887kv later. I did not want a better ESC becuase I wanted to keep it waterproof. Also the 2.4 radio I use has EXP so I can soften the lower end of the powerband of the ESC w/o getting a programmable ESC. A benefit replacing the stock 3500kv motor with a 3201 or 2887 is that you can put on small pinions and big tires for bashing in snow or water without easily overheating. If you want to race in short races where overheating is not an issue I would recommend the 5L 4893kv, 6L 4116kv, or 7L 3566kv. A lot of racers want a larger motor than a 540 so these 540 L motors are an option (if youre allowed to run them) where you dont have to also buy an ESC like those other larger motors. The 17mm buggy tire conversion is nice but it adds alot of weight. I am going to try the trencher sc or switch tires next. Hopefully they will save enough weight to extend run time, increase acceleration, and keep the motor even cooler. -//- Good for a 1/10 SC based on a 1/10 chassis. The BEST 1/10 SCs are based on a 1/8 buggy chassis (fyi the sc8 is a 1/8 sc with a truggy chassis). They run circles around the slash 4x4. However a platinum 4x4 and a good 2.4ghz is less than 525 new and only needs one battery. A superior 1/8 buggy based 1/10 SC is pushing 550 new for the buggy and conversion, 275 for a 1/8 speed control, 40 for a sc body, 125 for a 2.4ghz, 60 for a servo, and needs 2 batteries. THAT is where the slash 4x4 shines. I was dissappointed on the traction this has out of the box. It spins out easily with the locked diff or the fluid diff. It needs better tires or maybe more weight? The tires on the truck are very lightweight so consider that if upgrading to a heavier tire you might have to use a smaller pinion due to increased rotating mass. Maybe a few ounces stuck on the front and rear of the chassis would help? It is a pretty good jumper but I had to put some holes in the body to eliminate some of the parachute effect. The nose up nose down attitude is correctable in the air with brakes but the throttle doesnt pull up the nose as much as I expected. The included pinion allowed me to run two 2S 20c 5000mah packs back to back under medium bashing without the motor getting too hot. I then put on a 18t pinion and got speed up almost to 40 (19t hits 40) but in 1.75 packs the motor got too hot. Maybe to run hard back to back packs geared over 38mph w/o overheating the motor I should get a 3s lipo or put in the mamba monster? The extra weight from either of those hopfully would add some needed traction with the right gearing? I like to run hard 3-4 packs in a row so Im going to put back the stock pinion and use my 2s 20c 5000mah. With that setup I get 15-20 minutes of hard bashing per pack w/o overheating the motor. I bumped up the shock oil by 10 in the front and added more spring load spacers all around. If a class forms at my track I would be very happy.

WOW what a bad A$$ little truck. I have owned the 2 wheel version, and I can tell you this is stronger and much more drivable. Waterproof and just enough for fun on 2s lipo. Also, when you are done for the day, you just spray your car off with a hose. It's so much easier to maintain than my 1/8 RC8TE. Granted, it's no 8th scale, but bang for the buck, durability, part and car affordability - traxxas has it all. I love my 1/16 e revo, but this is so much more drivable. Buy this car and you will not be dissapointed.

Ms.Duane where did you get rock crawlers from redcat has a sc truck as well as does himoto HU! otay homer DUH! -//- WOW !! Another future rccaraction readers choice. Sorry Ofna,Himoto,Redcat and any others, you may have come out first.But will sadly finish last against the 1/10 4x4 slash.HU! with 1/8 buggy wheel adapters and a buggy body looks like we might see a few converted for 1/8 buggy racing.This thing is going to be fast and will change R/C SC Racing as much as the 4x2 slash has ---brownie points to you Traxxas

Not satisfied,
The truck literally falls apart during the race. The truck is plagued with screws that back out, and simply fall out every race. Ok, its prebuilt, I get it, a little loctite here a little there. No that is not the problem. The screws that thread into nylon, on the arms, the shock upper mounts, back out. The screws that hold the rear uprights were too short. The steering knuckle screws back out and if you put loctite on them they like to bind. Traxxas please do a better job of making sure your finished product holds up. Cannot beleive they would keep producing a truck that has so many problems. They can be fixed but only by giving your customers longer screws and changing a few design flaws, A little quality control next time would be nice. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention this truck comes with a paper thin Lexan body that tears easily. Ok I am done, and done with this truck, It is on eBay right now so come get it, dont bid too much, because I will feel guilty taking your money.
