This is an optional Pro-Line Performance Transmission, and is intended for use with the Traxxas Slash, Electric Stampede, Electric Rustler and Bandit vehicles. The 2WD Slash is one of the most important and successful vehicles in the history of RC because it brought affordable scale realism to the masses. Since its release, racers have been modifying and hopping up every aspect of the vehicle to improve its performance, but they have always been stuck with the heavy, non-adjustable, non-racing inspired transmission...until now! After over a year of design, development and testing, the Pro-Line Performance Transmission is here to bring your Slash up to racing specifications. Every feature you would expect to find in a high-end race transmission is now available for your Slash. When you combine the transmission with the PowerStroke shock system and ProTrac suspension kit, will help to transform your truck into a true racing machine. The Performance Transmission is also a great addition to your Electric Stampede 2WD, Electric Rustler or Bandit*!

Pre-Assembled – Install and Go
Transmissions are complicated and have a lot of moving parts. Pro-Line has done the work for you and pre-assembled the transmission to get you to the track faster! All you have to do is Install and Go! The Sealed, Oil-filled Differential has been pre-filled with 5,000 wt. diff oil and the slipper system has been pre-set for proper performance.

Sealed, Oil-Filled Gear Differential
The single biggest feature and upgrade over the stock transmission is Pro-Line’s Performance Differential. The design is based off of 1/8 Buggy style sealed differentials and is completely tunable to current track conditions by changing the weight of the diff oil. The differential features super smooth steel internal diff gears for the ultimate in durability, and 4 O-Rings and a diff gasket that seals against fluid leakage. You will be amazed at how smooth the differential is and how much it improves the performance of your vehicle.

Race Inspired Slipper System with Vented Discs
The Performance Transmission features a proven, race style slipper pad and plate system that is more consistent, lighter and runs truer than the stock slipper design. The plates are hard anodized aluminum with vent holes, which reduces heat and improves slipper consistency. Pro-Line’s 86t Spur Gear is extra wide for durability and is not offset like the stock spur gear. No more wobbly spur gears! The clear hard plastic gear cover has a removable rubber cap for easy access to adjust the tension on the slipper system. Adjustments can be made with the same 7mm tool that you use to remove wheel nuts.

Lightweight Transmission and Gears
Pro-Line’s new Performance Transmission has 20% less rotating mass and is over 20% lighter overall than the stock transmission. This allows quicker acceleration, less work for the motor and faster lap times. The bottom diff case gear and idler gear are made out of super durable and lightweight high impact plastic, while the top gear is super strong steel.

3mm Thick Aluminum Motor Plate, Full Ball Bearings, & Other Awesome Features

There are so many other awesome features that make Pro-Line’s Performance Transmission a must have. The motor mounts to 3mm thick Aluminum Motor Plate with cooling fins and a machined P-L logo, all of which acts as a huge heat sink to keep your motor running cool. High quality Ball Bearings are used throughout the transmission and the differential spins on huge 10mm x 16mm x 5mm Ball Bearings for incredible load capability. The toe block is molded separate from the transmission case allowing for quicker and easier access to the transmission when tuning the differential oil. The separate toe block also opens up the possibility for different tuning blocks (Toe Angle and Anti-Squat) to be used at some point in the future. The hardened steel outdrive shafts will accept the stock axles, as well as any aftermarket CVD’s or drive shafts that you might have for your vehicle.

Features:

  • Pre-Built - Ready to Install and Go!
  • Transforms your Vehicle into a True Racing Machine
  • Fully tunable Oil Filled Super Smooth Gear Differential
  • Racing Style Slipper System with Vented Discs
  • 20% less Rotating Mass than Stock

Pro-Line Performance Transmission
Bought for my 2x2 Raptor. Was not able to fully reconnect the motor guard ran great for a few days then it stripped the plastic idler gear replaced it with the stock metal idler per proline ran good for a few days then stripped the differential ring gear. Noticeable improved acceleration while it worked. Getting a refund. Can't wait for a v2.0 with these issues fixed. Save a hundred plus stay stock here. Also for the little use I got out of it I saw considerable clutch material wear at the factory setting.

Well, I was super excited to receive this transmission... 2nd race out with it, I crashed, as everyone does, and the transmission case cracked in half. I was both in shock and disappointed. This is not a cheap part, and it was not an excessively bad crash... Even though this transmission performed well while it ran, I will not be buying another one. The durability factor is just not there. Thumbs down for Pro Line on this one.

Strongly advise not grabbing one of these. Grinds right out of the box. It had misaligned gears and nothing but noise. Called and emailed PL directly to rectify and nothing but crickets after 3 weeks. They literally will not call me back. Sorry PL I'll build one that is better without the hassle.

I ran (raced)the Proline trans in my Slash for a year. "Install the metal idle gear in it first of all". My problem was with the transmission casing cracking all the time (3 in a year). I run the stock transmission now.

Broke within 10 uses. Mounting bolt snapped off in a tumble the stock trans proved to survive endlessly. Cracked an entire piece off case revealing gears inside. Would not recommend for the cost. Proline asked for pictures, and has yet to stand behind their product, or respond to my follow up email or phone message to the agent assigned

This transmission is junk. I have broken it 4 times. 2 output shafts, one idler gear, and now the gearbox cracked in half. It has nice features but the engineering and materials are the worst I've seen. The stock slash parts don't perform as well but are way more durable and I regret buying this. Parts like this is what makes people lose interest in this hobby.

No joke this tranny is awesome, worth every penny! I have been running this tranny for over 4 months and after putting a metal idler gear (TRA3696) $3 upgrade only because i run a 7.5 motor with a tight slipper. I took it apart a couple of days ago only because i am used to rebuilding most of my ball diffs every couple of weeks, the proline transmission was perfect! literally! absolutely no sign of wear on any of the gears. I have been running this tranny with the proline performance package that they offer for traxxas slash conversion and i have been dominating at all the local tracks. Pick one up you will not regret it!

I don't understand what all these 1 star ratings are about. People talking about melting plastic gears? All internals are steel the only plastic is the spur it's not going to hold up to 6S obviously. I have 2 of these and both are certified rippers. Never an issue with either and I'm going to buy a third for a project car build someday. Clutch pads can be hard to come by, you can swap in an axial spur and use their clutch pads as they are a lot easier to get your hands on. I wish they still made the anti-squat blocks for it still. I recommend 100%...put a steel spur on this unit and pour on the power.

I had to give it a one star rating because there was no zero star rating! I purchased one of these transmissions and quickly discovered that I wasted my money. I did not like it at all. Just upgrade the parts on the stock transmission and you will be better off!

Pro-Line Performance Transmission
Haven't installed the tranny yet, just got it today and am disappointed that I cannot use the speed and RPM sensor, I'm not using this tranny to race but am using it in a sand slash, I mainly purchased it for better performance and cooler temps in the motor and it would have been nice to keep the sensors, I can still use the temp sensor which was my main concern but still, I already spent the money and put the time in to install the speed and RPM sensors, hopefully there will be an update to install these at a later date.

edited review on 2-8. Original review follows the edit.
So after getting the trans on and running it two times all of the plastic. yes plastic internal gears have stripped. I have called and talked to proline and there have been issues with the gears. Proline customer service is great and they have replaced the parts. Problem is the parts themselves. I believe the upgraded idler gear will with stand some abuse as its metal now, however the diff case is still plastic. Everything else is awesome about the trans except the internal gears. Replace with a Hot Racing (Part #TE38Pro) steel idler gear and aluminum diff case with hardened gear. this diff is freakin awesome, only on ebay though. Guy had fast shipping and it was only 35 bucks. Definitely worth the price for headache free difff.

Put this on a new Proline pro-2 chassis and it fits wonderfully. One big problem: if you want to put an aftermarket bumper like an RPM( .... or any bumper from the looks of it) on this transmission be prepared to shim and have a bear of a time mounting it centered. Luckily there's a set of screws that come in the trans kit that helped a bit in this problem. I used a couple of plastic 1/8th suspension alignment (like associated part ASC9273) to line the bumper up on center and used the ultra long screws to screw the RPM bumper to the Proline plate. Will see how many hits it lasts as I liked the look of a bumper on the truck. Proline should definitely try to get a mount setup option available. Side note: Proline customer service is fantastic. The trans I received did not have the rear arm mount plate in the package. Called up same day and they shipped out for free within the week. Awesome service!

I bought this and put it on my sons 2wd monster jam (stampede) and noticed a acceleration difference. The truck runs a lot smoother too. It was pretty easy to install. Overall we are very satisfied with it and would recommend it.

I have recently purchased one of these from AMH for a custom install in to a sand rail chassis. I run a 6.5T Novak brushless motor with Castle Creations ESc & MaxxAmps Lipo. No issues whatsoever to date. The sand rail gets a good workout each time it's run mostly at high speed on the dunes. I would highly recommend this transmission either as a std replacement for your Traxxas or a custom install. Great product!
