JConcepts has pulled another option out from under their design sleeves with a genuine Carbon Fiber steering rack and hardware kit. In the stock trim, the steering swings a molded plastic steering rack supported by bushings. The JConcepts alternative uses the flat panel 2.5mm material as the steering rack with the standard 2 locations for ackermann adjustment. The rack includes bearings for the system to glide on while small 1mm aluminum washers act as the crush sleeve between the bell-cranks and bearings.

Not a fan ... put it in and was just off ... made the steering stick and bearings not that good. Unnecessary option.

Snapped it right around the bearing area where the carbon fiber width is the narrowest. Happened after landing from a jump where the vehicle landed tire first –front left side. Not a big jump and man you could hear that thing snap. To me, this a poor design being only 2.5mm thick compounded by the small width of carbon between the outer edge and bearings makes it weak. Some dude on eBay is selling something similar and its 3mm thick with small bushings instead of bearings – bearings are overkill IMO and the bushings are just as smooth. That and the bearings just get way too dirty too fast.
