This is an optional Avid RC Carbon Rear Chassis Brace Support, and is intended for use with the Associated RC8 family of 1/8 buggies. The Avid Carbon Rear Chassis Brace Support was developed to help prevent the breaking/tearing of the stock molded brace that is used on the RC8, RC8B, and RC8.2. The molded brace offers the best performance for the vehicle, but the 5° angle used for radio tray clearance makes the part prone to damage in the event of a bad crash. This brace will help prevent damage, increasing the strength of the stock part, without adding excessive rigidity.

Installation:

  • It is required to dremel a portion of brace at the top so that the carbon fiber "lollipop" may lay flush in the brace.
  • You will also need to use a 3/32 drill bit to drill the holes for the two screws and nuts which secure it to the brace. To get these holes lined up Avid suggests that you place the lollipop on the brace with a screw holding it in place on the molded brace. Then use the holes in the lollipop as a template for drilling the additional holes.
Includes:
  • (1) carbon fiber brace
  • (2) stainless steel screws
  • (2) silver lock nuts

Avid RC RC8.2 Carbon Rear Chassis Brace Support
If you're a pro with multi national titles go for it. But if you're an above average driver with the occasional hard landings then the rear brace WILL break. The way this is mounted, I couldn't see any logical explanation to why and how this will add durability without eliminating flex. And I was right. After a hard vertical landing this thin peace of carbon fiber along with the rear brace snapped right off and as a result I bent my chassis. Go aluminum or go home.

Avid RC RC8.2 Carbon Rear Chassis Brace Support
This brace removes flex and keeps the plastic chassis brace from breaking. It provides just enough flex in order to not break, yet maintains better traction that the aluminum brace. You also don't have to worry about breaking screws with the aluminum brace! Worth every penny, and the first upgrade that should be done to a RC8.2e when racing.
