Axial .28RR Pro Off Road Competition Engine (Green)
This low priced engine is a real screamer. I removed the pull start, installed the new backplate and installed the turbo head before ever starting it. I run number 7 turbo glow plugs in it. Broke it in with one tank on the bench and 5 tanks rich at the track....then put the power to it. It pulls my Mugen MBX5T truggy like a high priced engine. Great low end and high end power. They do run hot compared to other engines. At about 270-280 degrees F, it screams and after about 3 gallons of Byrons 20% the pinch is still so tight it is almost impossible to turn over by hand. I have run right with truggys with GRP's and OS Max Vspecs several times. You won't find a faster engine for the money. Just don't worry about the heat.....they run hot.

Axial .28RR Pro Off Road Competition Engine (Green)
I have about 1 1/2 gallons through this engine. It rocks. It's torque is unbelieveable, and the acceleration is almost scary. It really gets people's attention when you fire it up!! It started up right out of the box and was easy to break in. It is rock solid and well worth the small price tag. Highly recommended!!!

Axial .28RR Pro Off Road Competition Engine (Green)
It's a good engine but you need seal the whole engine and carb. Mine took about a gallon to completly break in. Then it started making power! Not too much low end torque but the mid and top end is great! I when I first purchased this engine, it was installed on
on my Hellfire but now it's installed on my Mutilator. Bottom line it's a good basher but for racing I would rather go with the os 28xz.

Axial .28RR Pro Off Road Competition Engine (Green)
I got this powerplant last summer for the right price hoping to get some practice time in my Truggy before investing in a higher pedigree engine. What I discovered is that it is a great, competitive engine that keeps up with anything but the most tricked out modded engines I've seen. It does run hot, no doubt but when I talked to Axial they essentially said don't get hung up on the temp, tune it to run right and don't worry about it. Thinking I am ready to move up to a different engine anyway, I've been running the snot out of it almost trying to kill it and the little green monster just keeps giving back. I'm very pleased with it.

One unknown however - I know it is a lot more linear than the Spec 1 version Axial 28 but I don't know how linear it is compared to "true" race engines - but ready to find out.

Axial .28RR Pro Off Road Competition Engine (Green)
If you have had bad experiences with this engine, please check if you have one with issue I wrote about in my first rewiew!!
If that is the case, then buy a new engine case for it!! -//- This engine had an issue, with the porting inside the engine crank case, when it was released.
The porting for the exhaust was protruding into the Schnuerle channels on both sides of the engine case.
That is probably why there is some very bad rewiews on this engine in the beginning.
I contacted Axial, and they took action on the matter.
THIS HAS BEEN SOLVED!!
If you convert it to bump start, it is a screamer!!
Consider using a nova Race pro head, or any other race head, as the original is a bit on the small side.
Rather good buy - i would recommend it - just look at the sparepart prices.

Axial .28RR Pro Off Road Competition Engine (Green)
I knew this motor was going to be good from the get when it started on the first pull. I left the factory settings on it for break in (5 tanks). It seemed to run a little hot at first, but after it was broken in it cooled down nicely. Lots of low end torque and it really moves the car when it is opened up. I didn’t have to lean it out much to get some really good speed out of it. I put this motor in my buggy because the stock motor was craptastic (when it ran). There are 10 tanks through it so far (tuning and bashing) with no problems. Bottom line on the Axial .28RR spec 1... You can't beat it for the money!

Axial .28RR Pro Off Road Competition Engine (Green)
I got this motor about 3 weeks ago now and i took my time breaking it in(almost 1/2 a gallon). after the break in this motor is a BEAST! You can not find a better motor for the price or even twice the price. an absolute best buy. You can not go wrong with it at all!!!!
